Drying Question

I put my buds in the jar and was burping them. The next morning the rh was 78%, so I burped them again. I left overnight again in jars and the rh was 74%. I then took them out of the jar and put them in a papersack for about 7 hrs yesterday and then rejarred them. Left them overnight again for about 10 hrs total and the rh is 47% in one and 50% in another. Did I over dry if so how is it possible cause the rh was high in jar and they weren't in the paper bag long at all?

Thanks bro, as said before this is my first time and hopefully I don't mess it up...:bigjoint:Any kind of estimate on when the rh will rise above 55% or will it hang around there and still cure?

the cure doesnt halt at 55. its just a good number for product feel

as to when it will get above that, couldnt tell you,

do you have any green stem material? a 2" piece of fresh stem will impart some moisture...
or better yet leaf material

absolutely, if you feel you need to add moisture. i would wait awhile tho. do you think the buds are moist in the middle yet? small buds will obviously dry a little differently, quicker. I keep my jars at 60 to 65%, once i see consistent 58% or so i toss in a boveda. I have 2 jars of white widow that stay around 60% since mid november, without any boveda. I open and inhale every couple days... smells like sour milk, heavenly

They are still moist as they feel spongy when I checked them early this morning. The rh is still creeping up so I'll wait till tomorrow morning and see where it's at and go from there. Thanks for your input.

yeah, i live in a cabin, woodstove, wicked dry in here, I think most were in jars in 3 days or so, but it worked out fine. Seemed like they lost some smell early on, but now they all have cured at least 60 days and all smell awesome

Just check your buds often, don't rush the process or you will ruin the buds. Touch and feel your buds when it's time to jar them for the cure add a Boveda pack to help dry or rehydrate your buds. When in jars pay close attention, burp jars etc

Thanks for the info. My jars are reading from 64-68% now, so I've been burping them twice a day. When I see the humidity drop in the jar I close them back up (few mins). I have ordered the Boveda 62% packs and when my humidity reaches 62% I'm going to put a pack in each Jar....

yeah, i was happier with my results without the boveda pack until it got below 60%. the ones i put it in earlier seemed to have less of an over powering smell. I have some that has cured 2 months without boveda packs, i will put those in for long term storage. my 2 cents
