Drooping Seedling

Hey everyone, I started my Aerogarden grow this weekend, and I transplanted several seedlings (1 inch tall) from soil. One sickly seedling had disrooted itself and twisted into an odd spiral trying to get back to the light. Now that it has been transferred to the Aerogarden, the seedling looks much healthier, but it remains twisted in a low spiral shape. Will it eventually straighten up? Is there anything I can do to assist it?

lol. Both of those replys dont make any sense to me.

It could be shocked becuase of the transplant. Or it could be over watered. Hold off on the watering for a little bit. Give it a few days and see if its getting any better.
I accidently up-rooted one of my seedlings and when i put it back i layed it on its side and it sprouted under the soil. Cuasing the first set of leaves to burn, it now has its second set of leaves and another set coming in nicely. The only thin is that it hasnt grown UP at all. The stem is about 3cm tall. Oh well, maybe it will be small and bushy!

Good luck! -VB

Thanks for the helpful reply VB! The plant is looking really hardy for being so strangely contorted. The leaves are thick and green and healthy, clearly happy to be soaking up the CFL :) Seems like it would be ideal to have a stocky and bushy plant no?

No problem! The seedling should be alright then. Who knows, maybe your seedling will grow to be a very cool/odd looking plant becuase of its deformity. Have any pics? Im also veggin under CFLs and its awesome how much these plants love those little things!

And yes, for me, it would be ideal for a small bushy plant. How old is your seedling?

I just downloaded the pics from my phone and I'm going to upload them to my grow diary this evening. You're going to see a remarkable difference in the health of the seedling, I have a picture immediately after it was transplanted from soil, looking sickly, and a picture from yesterday, where it is looking quite robust, if still a bit deformed.

I kind of hope the seedling doesn't straighten up, I think you're right--that deformity could make it look awesome later in life!! Although getting light to the leaves might prove a little difficult later on if the rest of the plants form a higher canvas...hmmm...we'll cross that bridge when we get there ;-) The seedling's been in the Aero for about 4 days, and it was the first to sprout from 20 seeds in my soil starter kit. So all in all, about 6 days old, and it would be about 1.5 inches if you stretched the coiling stem out straight.
