I will post a couple of pics of the nugs that I have left tonight. :) It's by far my most popular strain so far. :)

Come to think of it I really need to post my Breeders Boutique flowers for them as well.

Bump! You Journal Very Well! I have NO Questions..... Yet?

This is my first round growing out the S1 seeds of the DOG from Breeders Boutique.

I will be running about 9 of the 30 or so seeds i have and will be looking for a keeper mother. Doesnt seem hard considering just about every plant ive seen grown from them is a keeper.

My former set up was a 400w cmh in a 2x4x5 veg tent and a 600w hps in a 4x4x6.5 flower tent with a clone box with 14w cfl, humidity dome, and nursery tray.

Im planning to run dyna gro: Grow & Bloom only. Been testin them out lately and im done with all the additives. Still have some left over humic/fulvic and other organic additives from Blue Planet Nutrients that ill use til the end and that will probably go bad before i get to the bottom of the bottle.

Ill be running .8 gallon air pots for veg and then transplanting into 2 gallon generic htg smart pots for flower. Usually veg for a month with some LST or topping combo, then veg for 8-10 weeks. I usually pick around 8-9 because most of the strains i grow are short flowering, indica dom hybrids.

But im willing to go a full 10-11 to get some real goodness out of this DOG.

This time i have 2 of the 305w LED panels from growevolution.com. Ive been wanting to make the switch for a while and finally ponied up and did it. I like the multichip leds and have heard some good things from other growers on here about them.

So i will be using one side of one of the panels for the beginning of veg, then switch to a full panel once the seedlings establish themselves.

And for flower ill be using both of the 305w panels to replace my 600w hps. Also, considering the fans running probably use over 10w id say its a pretty fair match.

Im currently in the process of doing my post harvest cleaning of my grow room/tents. Taking out the A/C for the winter, cleaning up dirt, things like that, so i dont have any grow pictures yet.

I do have pictures of the leds that came in the mail the other day. That was the main hold up on this grow and now its just a matter of putting all the right pieces in place and firing it up.

Here is one 305w panel, i got 2.... :spew:And theyre nasty.
Each chip is 25w so they are rated for 400+ watts but are dimmed to 300 watts to help with heat.

No lenses just a reflector and a thin piece of protective plastic over each reflector.

View attachment 2886527View attachment 2886528

One heat sink per light, one fan per heat sink. 8 multi chip leds, 8 heat sinks, 8 fans.
Dimensions are roughly 24"x12"
So when theyre both in my tent ill have a 2'x2' area of even light dispersion instead of the single high intensity source.

You can power up half of the board or the whole thing like most LED panels.
Had em runnin like this for an hour and they threw less heat than my 150w hps! I knew LEDs were cool but ive always heard once you got into the higher wattages they threw a little heat. The only place you feel heat is 1-3 inches away from the light and its about as hot as a 13w cfl you just turned on for 30 seconds. The open sides and back probably help alot of heat to be exchanged.
View attachment 2886532View attachment 2886533

Here is a picture of the multichip led. Each light you see is an individual LED chip. Mostly red, then blue, then some UV/IR i think. (those 4 whitish ones)

View attachment 2886534

So thats it for now. Pretty lengthy but there are more to come and they wont be so long.

Even some video journals for those who want to see all the dimensions.

Ill have some germination pictures up in a couple of days as well as a few pictures of the room before and after LED conversion.

For anyone interested in an in-depth LED comparison journal, growing one of the "hightimes strongest strains" of the year, then id pull up a chair. :blsmoke:

Because im trying to make this the last time i have to pop seeds to find that amazing keeper pheno.

I love the DOG and everything about it and am going to grow it til DEATH!!! :fire:
Excited to see how it turns out. I just found the same website and I am interested to see how they work. They are a lot lower priced and I am wanting to get one bad
Hehehe, I dont know about anyone else, but when I compare LED Pricing... I go by $$$ per ACTUAL operating watt. When the 1 watt diodes were NEW and HOT, I was paying ~$4 per watt. GrowEvolution.com seems to be the ONLY ONE selling their units at $2/watt and LESS! Specially with their Bulk pricing.

Glad to have the whole gang here!!!
My Mom warned ME about Gangs, but I have always been intrigued with them.... Can I JOIN PLEASE! Can I? Can I? Can I? Hehehehe WooHoo!

Peace

Thanks Buddy! WooHoo! I will TRY to keep Up!

I will meet you back here at 4:20 for a Smoke In/Smoke Out? Perhaps top it off with a Spiritual DOSE of MedScientist's Super Duper Potent Dry Ice HashCaps (recipe in my Journal)?

1000ish LED watts in a 4 x 4 Tent? WooHoo! I cant wait to see the Glow coming off of THAT Tent!

Peace and LOVE to ALL (past-present-future)

So 4 out of 9 DOGs popped today. Nice long ass taproots on 3 and one was about half an inch. Still nice. Transplanted in solo cups for a few days than probably gonna be tossed in the .8 gal air pots for veg.

Hopin the other 5 will be popped tomorrow or the day after at the latest haha.

Ive been looking for a cut of dog but no luck yet. :-(. I will keep at it though. Loved the little bit of it i got from jig.

Almost all seeds have popped!!!

5/9 are in solo cups with pro terra (basically promix) and 1 of those 5 still has the seed on it.
dogseed1.jpg

Theres 3 left that have a good little 1/4" root comin out so ill probably be plantin them tomorrow and one thats lookin pretty dark so it might be a dud.
dogseed3.JPG

I am excited at the vigor of these seeds so far. They had nice fat shells which you dont see too often on fem seeds.
dogseed4.jpg

The only bad thing about that fat shell is that its hard for them to break out of it. hahaha

They can do it though and did it but 1 needed help, and one is still trying to but i cant get a good hold of it yet to pull it off. Itll be off by tomorrow though.
dogseed2.jpg

Thats hardly something to complain about though and the one dud might come back. Usually though if they get really dark theyve been water logged or killed.

Probably my fault hahaha.

Here is the BUD BOSS 305w to replace my 400w CMH.
LED veg1.jpg
(Ill have a before and after cmh/hps picture up in the next few days)

Ran it for about an hour or 2 and the temps stayed perfect inside the tent and one of the best parts i didnt even notice til after is theres no HOT ass ballast throwin heat in the air. So if the lights werent already 50% cooler than the lack of a hot ballast throwin heat makes them at least 50% cooler. Cant wait to throw 2 in the flower tent! Barely gonna be any heat compared to my old faithful 600w hps.
They know what theyre doin at grow evolution.

Ive been super cleanin the place getting it ready for the DOG.

Just waitin for the HOG to finish up in flower and ill be cleanin up that tent and redoin my carbon filter set up since i wont have a cooltube anymore.

Thats the last thing on my todo list and its about 3 weeks away so hopefully these dogs will be nice and fat in veg by then.

Stay tuned, ill have some videos up within a week.

DOG fems are on sale, same price for fems as regs, you could probably buy a pack of ten and get em shipped for what it would cost you to buy a clone from a dispensary.

budbro, I'm going to be watching real close, i want to see just how well these panels hold up compared to a 600W i might have to make a switch in my new house n was thinking LED. especially now they've come on a ways in development.

When I grow from Seed, I usually Scarify the Seeds before soaking. Scraping the skin that holds the seed together. No more Helmet Head! After a few losses tryng to De-Cap-itate my sprouts, I found and tried the technique with GREAT SUCCESS!

Is it Next Week Yet? I am EXCITED to watch this Grow unfold! WooHoo!

Peace

Thanks don, they got some nice shit at grow evolution. I have a discount code as well so let me know if youre interested in purchasing. These are multi chip leds so each one of those lights you see is a set of 25 leds. All 3w. But theyre dimmed to make the heat more manageable. About 50%. So the rig is capable of possibly 600w+ itself but for heat and life they are dimmed to 305w over 8 leds. Most, if not all leds are like this so the numbers can be misleading.

Thats why i like grow evolution though, if you look up the light and it says 151 or 232 than thats how many whats it draws not total possible watts in LED chips that are on board.

The video thing is taking longer than planned Med. Ive got the videos, just not in a good format for my programs. I need some real shit like adobe premiere cs6 but my computer cant handle it so im stuck with some free software that i have to learn from the ground up. But hopin within a week ill be up and at em. Might just borrow a friends macbook pro.

I went and emailed them, got this response:

Hi, I'm curious, how many lights is the equivalent to say a 600w HPS?

Hey man it totally depends on coverage area, but the standard answer is about half to two thirds. You could go with three bud boss 151s and that would definitely be sufficient. Or one 151 and one 232. You get a price break though if you get multiple of one light.

so basically to cover my space i'm looking at about $400. aint happening that :(

Yeah LEDs are expensive no matter what. Cant beat the cheapness of a $75 ballast and a $40 bulb.
I was gonna build my own multichip led panel before i found them. After i did the math it was barely more expensive to buy them from growevolution.com and theyd have a warranty/fully assembled by people who know what theyre doing vs me who thinks i know what im doin... haha

Theyve got some of the less expensive ones out there and theyre still pricey. But shit a bulk discount for buyin more than 1 panel. Thats pretty nice on top of a good price. I had to break the bank to get these. But im confident theyll pay off.

Better spectrum, all the watts being used are for the usable spectrums so more efficiency, they have a longer life.

And the heat alone. I always heard that leds were so much cooler. But figured that the power supplies would be pretty warm and all together they wouldnt run too much cooler than my hps.... I was wrong. The whole panel running for a few hours makes less heat than my 400w ballast, let alone the bulb. So i cant wait til summer, barely having to run my AC cause these things are cool on multiple levels. Its also nice because you dont have to worry about over cooling the lights and causing loss in lumen output due to temperature of the bulb/gases dropping from rapid cooling. These things are made to run cool.

That's what has always wanted me to try led's is the lack of heat vs hid. Its hard to keep my little closet cool so I'm excited at the prospect of bot having to cycle a huge amount of air through the place to keep it cool. I'll be able to adjust the environment more to my liking.

For real! Now that i have these i can run a semi-sealed room and get some co2 flowin. Dont have to exhaust that hot ass air anymore off the 600. I can just set my carbon filter to pull the air out of the flower tent to scrub it and then throw it around the room to get sucked back through the intake of the flower or through the intake of the veg tent. Less high humidity problems from temp spiking and plant sweating and in the winter less low humidity problems from the hot hps bulb drying the air out even more.

I cant wait to start seein the numbers! Compared to my usual grow im already using 85w less just by switching lights, probably more because my ballasts probably draw slightly over 400 and 600 watts a piece. On top of that i have taken out 2 fans that were previously necessary. So Lets just round it to 100+ watts of savings so far on a set up that, in theory, should outperform or at least match my previous set up. Ill probably be able to take out another fan in the flower tent once the last of the HOG finishes up and i can pull that 600w out and throw in my 2 panels.

Obviously took out the AC because of the cool air available all day outside. I really want to get one of those thermostat outlets for my intake fan, especially if i want to run co2. Cant let the temps get too cold. Never thought thatd be a problem, but with these lights i think it might be.

Ill be puttin the DOGs under the veg 305 in a day or 2. Once they have all established themselves and caught up with each other.

Im gonna put the light about 12" away at first but after a few days ill probably drop it to 6" or so.

I got 8 for sure so it looks like one cup under each individual LED hahaha.
