If only the red hair came back
:D Hello everyone. I know this is an odd way to introduce myself. I live in AZ and will start growing indoor and outdoor. Since its legal, WTF not!? Anyways - Back in the mid to late 90s, there was a LOT of Red Hair and NL in Austin TX so it was High Times. I am hunting for some original NL#5 that did as I recall, was creeperish,pine/citrusy and had lots of red hairs :). Apologies for necro posting but i had to do it:wink:!

Look for the nl5xnl2 that suit what you describe taste/smell wise

I’ve read mixed reviews about Sensis
For the definitive answer to the question, no #5 does not exist, or #2 for that matter. At least if you're actually looking for the genotype and not the phenotype.

The closest you'll actually get to the _genotype_ is from Sensi, but since the late '90s, everything they've sold as Northern Lights has been a combo of #2 and #5.

Everything else with _specific_ Northern Lights numbers are for Boomers, by Boomers... and complete marketing bullshit.

Sensi and Mr. Nice (Ortega) are the closest you'll get to the actual genotype of the Northern Lights variety.

Email sent... thanks.
Sensis was the 5x2 back in the day apparently

I've yet to grow any NL2/5 from anyone (unless Royal Queen counts) , have them from different sources, and this other option is interesting. #akbeanbrains

... seedbank way back as you said the usa nl isnt the one we all seeking it is nevils own cut that was the superior and more indica based vs the usa one hence why even the nl crew bought nevils seeds not something you would do if yours was the best line imo
I would respectfully disagree.

The original #5 is one Nevil could not obtain again, that's why he tried to back door NL Seattle Greg and get it from the "Indian".

I really respect your breeding philosophy and the work you've put into working with and learning about Northern Lights. Just curious if you have grown any of AK Bean Brains Northern Lights offerings to compare, because, given your interest and vast experience with Northern Lights your input on AK Bean Brains NL offerings would be very insightful to the community.
But only if you've grown it.

Was it really "his" version though? He was just a wholesaler. Not much of a breeder is what I'm getting from everyone involved back then.
Not so much his version more as the one he used and that made it famous it was also the one in most of the crosses around today you say that but the nl crew bought seeds from nevil back in the day i think that says enough besides him also supplying them with mazari seeds used to make nl#1 as well
