Does the Northern Lights #5 from the 90’s still exist?

Why do people still want NL when it was meant to have very little smell or taste? Now that growing cannabis is legal, why grow NL?
Great question.

They are weed hipsters searching for nuance in a commercial line where it hardly exists.

It will be interesting to see if Beasters or Brickweed make a comeback next. If the state of the Roadkill skunk thread gives any indication, I'd lean toward Brickweed mystery genetics becoming the next big thing again.

What is old becomes new.

Honestly, you've got me debating every NL I've ever smoked because everytime I've had NL, it's had a very DISTINCT smell and taste lol I've never had any NL that didn't smell or taste good tbh

Well I am skeptical with AG, Deep Ellum told me they stole his NL#2 Line [and that he is lying about heritage on his the website].

Therefore if I really wanted a NL#5 Reproduction I would go with CSI / Riot Seeds.
This is complete BS.

The NL2 came from Greg McAlister who originally gave it to Neville.

The one I tested outdoors last year is my favorite smoke from the garden, out of 25 strains. Awesome pine scent on top of strong NL funk, and potent.

90% germination on my NL2 beans from him. I actually had 100% of them crack open, but one didn't sprout. I also have Deep Ellum's NL2 but there is no way Todd stole it from them. I decided AG's stock was a better candidate for hunting a good NL2 male from. I might look at Deep Ellum's later on but I dunno now that they're talking smack. That's a red flag. Also, it sounds like Neville's NL2 wasn't even pure, so that means DE's isn't either.

AG NL5 is also real, from Greg. The only one he doesn't have is NL1 but he does have Purest Indica, which is Steve Murphy's Afghani that was used to make all the NL hybrids. Greg provided all sorts of other interesting crosses too, Neutron Lights, Hawaiian Lights, etc.

People need to stop listening to other's FUD.

Is the same that CSI reproduced, who got it via Riot I believe.

However Riot did not get that one, at least that's my understanding. So I really have to wonder why would he give NL#2 only to AG?

AKBeanBrains advised me to go to for DeepEllum if I wanted NL#2.
Simple, Todd and Greg have been friends for a long time.

It was me originally who pointed AKBB to Deep Ellum because I bought some on Strainly and he had asked where I got it in a comment on his forum thread here, or IG, can't remember which. This was before AG ever announced NL2.

I have been very happy with everything I have purchased from AG, including the 50 NL2 beans I wound up with (multiple orders, promos, sales, etc).

Care to share your opinion? Would love to have some info on the smoke. I will look up what he wrote me via strainly.

haha nice to know that, funny coincidence.

Did you already grow them out? How did they compare to the DeepEllum NL#2?

Edit: I don't have the chat anymore... However if I remember correctly he told me that they F2 his NL#2, he then stopped selling it in the meantime and then resumed selling it? Maybe it also was just a mix up from his side?

I have not popped any of the Deep Ellum's yet, I was more interested in AG's first, being that they came from Greg. I will go back and look through those at some undetermined point in the future to see if I'm missing out but I suspect I'm not.

Here is the NL2 tester nugs from my outdoor garden. The largest nugs were 4 inches long and easily 2 inches wide. I should have taken pics of the plant but it was shaded by another one, and smaller since I put it out late. Even still it produced some of the best smoke and biggest, densest, stankiest nugs in the garden.

Only Bodhi's Sun Ra (SFV OG x Wookie 15) was more loud than this as far as those deep myrcene earthy musk flavors are concerned. In fact, this reminds me a lot of the Sun Ra, probably from the OG lineage I'm guessing.

Thank you very much for sharing.

I was hoping you already grew them out and could tell me how much Thai there is in them, but the description of your shown buds sounds good and like what I am looking for, maybe I will get a pack after all.
You're welcome! There might be a little Thai influence in there, I get a very small amount of incense aroma from this one too. It is very faint, however. I am not sure if that is where that would come from. There is a little pine and incense but mostly that NL earthy musk funk.

Keep in mind my environment is extreme high altitude and not all strains express well. This one is awesome given the circumstances. I am looking forward to flowering these next 9 out indoors where I can control the environment better.

just saw this. brick is making a comeback in several ways...of course the genetics are sought after. I watch an interview of Mr. Goodbuds...it was hard to watch...dude has a pretty lazy tongue. anyway, he figure out a way to make his bud look like mob weed....basically drying, then vacuum sealing the hell out of it to make it sort of brick up and get super dense. i guess it's like the old beaster vac packs (not mexi), when they (asian gangs) were super vaccing everything. later they learned to not make the week worth 2k less a lb, but apparently Michigan is resurrecting the old school. they claim the smell is better and smokes the same.

Yeah no way tod can be wrong. Nevil never got the pure nl5 clone did he. Problem was he did and it pissed greg off. Only issue was nevils own selected nl5 clone, you know the one the world got to know and made nl famo us was better than the usa nl5 clone. Oh I think that nevils haze tod uses is real too. He wouldn't tell a fib and it couldn't actually be some unknown clone that he recognises as being similar to ssh but for some odd reason sells as nevils haze in hybrids, wonder why . Also tod and greg haven't been freinds more then a couple of years. Plenty more aswell like how long did tod have the ohz, because he didn't have it long before selling it despite his 2012 or whatever claim. Lots of realing in of people of there who dont know any better with the stories, such as staying at the cannabis castle with nevil overnight when that was impossible as sensi seeds owned the building at that point. Tod may not be the seed and breeding industry and history expert he makes out to be.
