Does pH Affect Plant Gender?????

Hey everyone, i heard that lower pH causes there to be more males than females and higher pH causes more females than males. Is this true???

I don't remember where I originally heard this, but I just found another site yesterday that said the same thing. At first, I doubted that this was true. But now that I've heard it from two different places, I decided I wanted more info.

If anyone has evidence supporting this or knows someone who does, please let me know. It would be helpful information for anyone wanting to grow weed, cuz you could make there be more females and get a better crop, or maybe make a few males if you wanted seeds.

Here's the quote from Indoor Cultivation:

"Your prime concern, after choosing high quality seeds, is the soil. Use the best soil you can get. Scrimping on the soil doesn't pay off in the long run. If you use unsterilized soil you will almost certainly find parasites in it, probably after it is too late to transplant your . You can find excellent soil for sale at your local plant shop or nursery, K-Mart, Wal Mart, and even some grocery stores. The soil you use should have these properties for the best possible results:
  1. It should drain well. That is, it should have some sand in it and also some sponge rock or pearlite.
  2. The pH should be between 6.5 and 7.5 since does not do well in acidic soil. High acidity in soil encourages the plant to be predominantly male, an undesirable trait.
  3. The soil should also contain humus for retaining moisture and nutrients"

male female is genetics and no soil or nutes can change that. the conditions the plant lives in can cause hermies though.

Is a hermie a good or bad thing? I know what a hermie is, but do they have big/small buds, a lot/little thc? I'v never heard of a hermie pot plant before. Can hermies pollinate themselves?

a hermie has the same potency as the full female it will have less bud size do to the fact that once it hermies all the energy is put towards producing seeds. personaly it`s depressing to me when it happens alot of work wasted. all plants male or female reproduce eventually. when a female is left to long in flower she will produce flowers to try and pollenate herself. it happens natrually.
