I remember those concerts..well sorta... alaskachic brought them up early in the thread, it was cool to know someone else was actually old enough to know what a "REAL" dead concert was... I would usually hit them in 2 or 3 states around me.... all good times....
Followed Black Sabbaths Witches Tour cross country I believe it was 76, but I could be wrong I was doin lots o drugs back then LOL

only saw one Dead show, was more into the heavier stuff

Saw Led Zep in Chi town.....Saw a chick stab this dude in line for tickets......No one moved and when the cops came no one would leave the line for "questioning" either....Most were "looking the other way"..

Saw Queen 3 times - sure do miss them! Saw so many bands...Zappa was always GREAT. Cpt Beefheart, Commander Codey, Uriah Heap, Rick Danko and Paul Butterfield, Brownsville Station, New riders of the purple sage, B.O.C, Rick derringer, E.L.P., Johnny and Edger, Mountain - Damn did Leslie West make the guitar look small or what? , Yes, Alice Cooper, The Stones.
Saw Peter Gabriel less then a month after I saw him with Genesis at the SAME venue! Graham Nash played with him there and Solsbury Hill still rocks - OMG! That was 40 years ago this month on the 12th!, George Clinten lol.....

So MANY BANDS!

Thanks guys! This gave me relief from the "pre charge" stress!!! How joyfull! Out will come the pics and the ticket stubbs and concert videos for awhile!

Only ones that I would add to your list was Pink Floyd... AC/DC ,Little Feat, Jethro Tull, BobSeager... and a bunch I am sure I am forgetting... every once in a while the wife and I get together with friends we have had since we were young...oh the stories that are told... the things we did back then... darn it was such a simpler time.. I remember the first time I got busted.... was only 16... was out with friends at the reservoir, it closed at dusk and we were still there partying till after dark... we were walking out when a light was shined in our eyes... oh crap... nuttin we could do... we were all carrying and we were even carrying our empties out with us...the cop made us dump the pot out... broke our pipes... followed us out and said, make sure to put those bottles in the trash!... then he sent us home telling us not to be there after dark... now a days, we would be locked up with a huge bill and charges... he just let us drive home after drinking and smoking... go figure...

Like I said in my "warning" post......Back in the day we all learned that the Police were there to "HELP" and that was their job.
Today their JOB is to arrest you - period!

The first Floyd was the Animals tour at Soldier Field - Chi town. ACDC = Detroit, Feet and Tull = Chicago again and Bob was Detroit twice and the Michigan Jam at Martin 131 Dragway. Lets see here, I think the order was Spirit - Little River Band - Nazareth - Heart - and Bob topped the bill. That will be 40 years ago next June or July if my sometimers is sleeping.....

Yeah the gang gets together and plays Bocce at least once a month in the summer. We used to play vollyball every weekend, dosed most of the time, back in the day...AGE eh?....There was an old railroad bridge that spanned the Grand near Indian mounds.....Woodsy and nice. We had a cpl of kegs out there. The word spread like wild fire around the metro area and one night hundreds of people showed up as the "normal" time arrived, so did 23 double occupied cop cars from 3 different Cities that kinda converged in that area. Grand Rapids, Grandville and Walker. There we are on one street with 14 cop cars 1 way and 9 the other. All they did was to tell us to break it up, put out the fire and go home. They found the 5 of us that started the whole thing fairly easy. They told us the big reason was they know that minors had been being served and drugs were being used. You will not come back here and attempt this again or we would be charged.......So really we were set free with a stern warning! We never came back and all was good! Today, SWAT would have shown up and we would have done time.......Life was simple and we learned lessons.....You don't even GET that chance today!

Hey, I was at that show! I still remember the giant inflatable pig. Wish I knew where to get one of my own.

Everyone's talking about the Dead... funny that I never, ever missed a Dead show, but at the same time I don't think I can really remember a single one. I'm completely at a loss to explain it.

Seems I've caught this thread two years after the fact. Gotta tell you all it was a lot of fun reading through these last four pages. Thanks for the memories!
