Wondering if anyone here volunteers their time to help others?

I just started going to retirement homes with my wife and our dog. We got our dog certified(pretty much any non-aggressive dog gets approved), and now bring the dog to see people who dont get many visitors.

I know most people have no time to help out others, and that is fine the economy is ruff, but I figure if I spend at least a 1/8th of the time I do on my computer each day, I think I have time to help people that need it.

I volunteer at my local foodshelf....I enjoy helping others although i will say this....i am amazed at how rude folks from other countries that are now living in the united states(here they are refugees) at our shelf over food and bread to both each other and other clients here. i was taken aback by there lack of manners and overall mistreatment of women and children in public. Other than that, things are fun there slinging pallets of goodies to hungry folks is fun!

Yes!, I actually do some volunteer work for a prison ministry. One of my many benefits of having retired early is lots of free time. And considering half the people incarcerated are there for drugs, I figured it would be a worthy cause.

Nice! Great to see an open minded member of the church reaching out to people on their level. I volunteered 9-6 at a riding stables... Hard physical work outdoors all day all-weather but I love the horses.. And giving back to the charity that enabled me to ride at a discounted rate and keep tw place running for others with disabilities.

Yep. 13 years ago I volunteered to clean the computer keyboards at the local public library. I think the courts called it community service back then though.

Met my wife in alabama volunteering for the red cross during hurricane katrina. We lived on opposite sides of the country and never would have met otherwise....

Honestly it's the best way to meet a qualified woman.

Only volunteered when I was forced to due to legal problems. Such things as planting trees and this thing called feeding south florida, I did feel good doing it but ever since I got out I havn't done it again. I should look back into it.

Yeah, that's not volunteering but community service is about as far as I've got with helping others lol.
