@pop22 That's encouraging news about the increase in yeald with QB's. I know I'm impressed with veg growth these lights really have tighten the nodes on my girls lots more bud sites I'm excited to set my timer for 11/13 in a few days..

A quick question can a HLG 240-c2100a drive 4 QB's with 288 561c ?

Macro trichome shot of my Blackberry Breath 5 weeks into flower. This is my first time running this particular strain from Jordan of the Islands and so far have no complaints. This is under a 260w 3000K qb v1 kit. These LEDs continue to impress me over a year later.

Anyone have any word on HLG actually selling the 730nm boards. Seems like a state of permanent lack of stock. I've been in flower for three days and it sure would be cool to toss some 730s in there at the end of stretch. Maybe some reseller has them?

QBs and Megacrop, what a combination! The Blue Dragon I grow is my own cross and I'm seeing the biggest buds ever on them! I grow at least one almost every grow since I made the cross 4 years ago. The buds of this crop are the finest buds ever! Now I grew some in the other tent under my COB light, and they were excellent and also Mega fed, but this grow is even putting them to shame!

I'll be growing some photo periods next under the QBs and I'm planning to finally build my other lights to do vertical scrog with. I'm sitting on at least 10 QBs!
Same. Never been happier with a light than i am with my QBs. I currently have about twice as many QBs as i have room to use. I'm totally fine with that.

I built my frame from .125 Aluminum angle. Its pretty easy you just need a drill, a screw driver, pliers, etc and some screws. make a rectangluar frame, add two rails in side the frame and bolt the QBs to them. The Rapid frame most likely is not usable for your application.

Hi, I am new to RIU and this would be my first post. I have followed this thread since oct 2017 and covered all pages/followed along. I was in the market for something new as my Gavita 750e was in need for a bulb and hood. i knew the LED technology was coming a long way, so my first purchase was 4 v1 QB 288 3000K on 2 hlg 240h c2100a. I dropped that into my 4x8 tent and on either side of my gavita and wow things just got brighter. Since my gavita was taking up 7 + amps it didn't take me long to add 3 more boards to replace. I finally recently purchased 4 qb96 elites and 4 hlg 185h 54a drivers to complete my 4x8 footprint. My whole set up is currently running just over 10 amps with room to go higher further in flower. I also am a Megacrop user coming from green planet nutrients. Just megacrop ( v1 ), sweet candy, some silica and cal mag. I noticed the smell and taste was nicer with the MC and running this saves me space, time and $. I can be a bit of a rambler so i will end this post with a big "Thank You" to the folks at HLG Lighting and Greenleaf Nutrients. As well a big Thanks to many of you who have helped me. Oh ya, a big thumbs down to yoda... who actually steered me clear for a day or 2 of Quantum boards ( re page 1 idiot). I bet yoda... secretly is the proud owner of a bunch of quantum boards, but never to admit it. I will follow up with some of my builds and pics ( all inspired from here ). For any new to this technology don't hesitate. Even if you have to add slowly like I did. Cheers from BC..:peace:

If there is one important thing I have learned from riu. You dont ever listen to that bum. That asshat tried to sabotage a noobs grow when I first started. That bum gave all the wrong advice he could give. Telling the poor person to veg on 12/12 and flower on 18/6 and to put their hid 2" above their plants for the whole cycle. The post was taken down but still a effed up move on him. All because the new person suggested they wanted to get into led. It was a huge ordeal, then the new person thought that what asshat said was true and everyone else was fooling him when it was the other way around. Again post was taken down but I never saw the new person after that. That dudes a dick and a half for doing that. I wanted to reach through the screen and ring his neck. I'm not even that type of person! That got too me though. Any way my rant is over. Just be careful who you get answers from. The ones on this thread will never put you in that direction. Everyone in this thread you can trust. They might not have patience to repeat the same answers over and over but you can really trust what they say. Not everyone is like that dirt ball but there are a few! You're in the right place. Wish you nothing but luck and happy grows!

Any of you guys have experience with the LRS series of meanwell's? I'm on the fence about picking up a couple of LRS-150-36 for some 132 boards.

The 132's v1's and LRS drivers would be 300w for just under $150. $0.50 per watt sounds pretty good to me lol.

They are an open frame driver, very cheap, for safety they should be enclosed in a box but the issue with enclosing them is they need airflow these are designed to be installed in things like a computer. They are very different to a HLG driver. They are cheap for good reason.

TEKNIK has a good point. I always read the "Data Sheets" to see what the amp draw is. HLG drivers are the most efficient. What you save now you may pay for later in power. Circuits are usually 15 amp but 12 amps is your ongoing max. Once you start counting all your amps from other lights fans etc. It doen't take long before exceeding this. I too have looked into alternatives but it just didn't make sense in the end.

HBG 160p 36 would be better, hitting 93% effeciency vs 89%. Bright lights are only as efficient as your driver..
