DIY with Quantum Boards

Hey yall haven't posted in a minute but have a DIY project I need some help with and even HLG is having difficulty helping as well.

So I ordered 6x qb648 refurbished diablo boards, an inventronics eud-600s560dt chose 6x diablo board option (I'm assuming this is so they can program driver.) As well as telos growcast controller, and then also 6p6c rj12/ 11 jack box to connect the dim- dim+ and 12v aux to power controller without having the use an alternate power source just for controller. I was informed that I would need to wire the lights in series parallel with 18awg wires. Oh and using a nema 5-15 120v power cord for input to driver with 18awg V outward. I even had my friend who is electrician at my job to help with everything as well.

So I plugged in power cord and all lights turned on and nothing short circuited. When I went to use the controller with the correct ppf being 1900 and total watts 650 like a refurbished scorpion diablo using 6x qb648 refurbished boards. However they're seems to be no dimming at all from 10%-75% and at 450w the lights shut off. I contacted hlg and was told that controller wasnt compatible but all other links said it was and even recognized the driver. Apparently first person didnt seem to have much knowledge because he said "oh you need a barrel adapter to make that work." I replied "Do you mean a sp21 m12 3 pin twist lock connector? Ok easy peasy. However I used what your website and telos said to use being a 6p6c rj12/11 jack box." They then I guess sent me to someone with more experience in technical support because first guy didnt know what the fuck I was talking about considering he said 'Barrel' attachment lol. I then started thinking well Meanwell drivers are not programmable like the new inventronics drivers and are class 2 meaning that ones sold in America have to have dimming resistors for safety protocols. So my final conclusion is that they did not program the driver to the correct amount boards that would be used. Considering when you order the inventronics eud-600s560dt from hlg it is required to choose how many boards will be running on driver I chose 6x qb648 but seems as if it was programmed for only 3 or 4. I even got a petionometer and same issue wont go full 650 and dims to off at 450w. Cody however seems to be much better help at hlg so hopefully get this resolved next week. I also have a inventeonics prg-mul2 programmer arriving Monday so I can program the driver myself with cody helping walk me through it. Do any of yall happen to have any other opinions on the matter. Been a bit of a headache lol but definitely think it is a programming error on hlg end maybe the barrel attachment guy was the one that programmed it lol.

Let me know if yall need pictures or anything and will post them here as well.

Someone will know better than me but those boards and meanwell drivers you have to use i think its A version that you can adjust. I dont know if the inventronics has adjustments knobs to increase voltage. What you are experiencing sounds like you may be right about driver not putting out enough me but one of the LED guys can tell you for sure.

It is an inventronics constant current driver. It is a more advanced driver than meanwells but dont get me wrong meanwells work great as well just older drivers that meanwell doesnt seem to care to upgrade for time being. Well I believe they came out with XLGs but not as efficient. Inventronics are actually programmable so you can fine tune them as well and also they not only utilize 1-10v dim but also pwm and 3 timers but need to research the timers more. They do not have an Io and Vo adjustment like meanwells however and have to program them with a prg-mul2 programmer but you are able to be much more precise in voltage, current, etc. Oh also they have pto- and + surge protection and 12v aux to power adapters that connect to dim -+ or pwm so you dont have to run a whole separate cable from outlet just to power whatever device it is connected too. Finally its water proof pg96 (may have abbreviations incorrect) run much cooler than meanwell equivalent and also I believe 2-3 year longer life span than meanwell. But they can be a fucking pain in the ass.

So I got a hlg-320h-c2100b powering two qb648s but want to add a third board. Now the c2100 doesn’t power them properly to achieve 320watts but the c2800 will power two qb648s in series at 320 can I just was in a third?

Do you have a picture or documents supporting that?
On a QB288 or 272 maybe, I drive my v1 QB288's around 50 but I distinctly recall HLG saying they wouldn't work with the 54 volt meanwell drivers on the Diablo boards.

Act saw another stating likeyou said 52-56v the refurbished might be the ones I was quoting

Yea I'm using the inventronics eud-600s560dt

Constant current region for 480-2800 is 85 ~ 171V
Whereas the constant current region for the 320-2800 is 57 ~ 114V.
If you put three Diablo in series at 56 VDC that's 168 VDC and you'll want to drive them at a REALISTIC current because the heatsinks usually can't disappate the power a Diablo can take.
So, when you slap three Diablo in series on the 320-2800 you're going to be a full 54 ish volts short of firing the semiconductors.
Search the complete model number with SPEC at the end of the query and you'll get the PDFs of the data sheets; they have the basics in the second page of the docs.
Make sense?

EDIT:

HLG-320H-C1750 is likely the best match for three Diablo @ 320w.
I don't think you'll get the full output but probably not a great deal short of 320, but could be wrong there too (actual op voltages vary).

Thank you
Absolutely.
If you want or need help with anything else LMK - I'm not usually too far off and the PM buttons operable here too! There's a few people here who know lighting and stuff that they can help with too. Pass it on because you can't take it with you, eh?

Could you maybe send a pic of the label on the driver for a full model nr? Afaik theres several versions of the inventronic drivers with different voltage/current. You might have the wrong driver. Not sure but i dont think all the inventronics are programmable.

How does dimming work without the controller? Can you use a standard resistive pot?
