So your saying i coukd get one of those step up modules and not have to bridge it to another power supply and that would.give me enough juice.to run what exactly. Im sorta newer.to this diy.light atuff.

If you use this modules you do not have to bridge your power supplies.
At first, turn the poti on the MW driver clockwise to the end to increase voltage as much as possible, maybe you get around 6volts.
Then turn the poti on the boost converter anticlockwise to the end and connect it to the power supply. Now you need a multi-meter and connect it to the BC output and turn the poti clockwise untill you get stable 12v readings.
You need to set the meter to the correct filters (20VDC or 100VDC, which ever is available) and remember to always take it off from the wall when you connect something to avoid electic shocks.
If thats done you can connect a 12v CV LED-strip to the BC output and it will work.

These small BC's can handle up-to 2A, which means you could use a 2m piece of a 5A/12v flex strip or 2-3 7,2w/12v hard strips. If the strip needs more amperage correspondingly less.
I know nothing about their quality so I recommended only to use 1m per boost converter.
BTW,
this power-supply should be able to drive 15, maybe 20 of this step-up modules in parallel, each with 1m strip running at 12-15w. You should be able to use it's full potential but effiency is not as good. I would sell it via ebay and choose a better matching driver. The MW is maybe 91% efficient and the boost modules maybe 80%, which means the whole set-up is only 72,8% efficient.
Lots of wasted energy here!
Better sell them and buy better matching HLG-Series drivers for example.

This one would work without BC because it's a 5v USB-strip but only 4w.

But to be fair, thats all really bad solutions if you want to make an efficient grow light. These sprips are only 100/120lm/w which is really bad and together with the inefficient driver solution you will get only 80-90lm/w system effiency.
You need CC(constant current) strips like Samsung F-Series(10-12$ for 25w 2ft. strip, digikey or arrow) and an efficient driver like Meanwell's HLG-Series which is up to 94% efficient at 220v. This way it's easy to get >150lm/w effiency on system level and it's a lot easier to build for an LED noob.

Adding a boost module introduces another point of failure, plus reduces efficiency. Bridging the supplies does not.

Hi Vegas, after reading up on this thread I am in the process of making a huge order with Roget, just wanted to confirm if he is legit before i make a bank transfer....as this is not being done thru alibaba so there is no protection in case he decides not to ship, I know you have spoken highly of him...i just wanted some ease of mind before i transfer as the order will take 2 weeks to process and during that time a lot of suspicions might surface since he takes ages to respond.

He could not use his pick and place machine to place the diodes with out the diodes falling off the strip. So he had to hand place over 20,000 diodes. It took a few extra weeks but he did deliver them.

He could not use his pick and place machine to place the diodes with out the diodes falling off the strip. So he had to hand place over 20,000 diodes. It took a few extra weeks but he did deliver them.
Now that is what I call diligent service. thanks for sharing. he is good with his team..

Thnaks Ichabod and everyone else who commented, I am relieved , the only problem I was having was communication on alibaba, cant blame him as he seems to be a busy man. He has been very forthcoming since I paid a token amount thru paypal , I have an order worth 5k or more and based on the feedback here it looks like I shouldn't have a problem...the only problem is I have about 100 seedlings going which will be needing thier lights pretty soon, I hope roget can deliver in time .

more power to DIY! I personally think that these flexi strips are the way to as you can have an ideal spread according to your grow space, not matter what the shape, also tons of way to configure them for different drivers, I have gotten custom ones made at 6 leds a unit so i can run them at 36 or 54 volts so switching CV drivers between these and citi 1212 , cxm 22 wont be a problem.

He didnt reply well to me while I was waiting either. He did but it took time for him to do that a few times. Wish you luck.

I'd be more than happy for someone to test them if it can be arranged confidentially. I'm hoping to get some microscopy done for better shots of the dies once the weekend is over.

I have found a camera attachment, with 30x magnification and made a few shots of true Sammy LM561c diodes in 3000°k mounted on an original Sammy F-Series strip.
The housing is made of white thermo-plasics and there is a small rectangle visible in the middle under the phosphor layer with two small gold wires and you can also see a small resistor next too the rectangle. There is also a small 1mm bezel from the same plastic housing around the phosphor layer and one side has two cuts on the corners.

Diodes in the middle of the 1st. picture looks like epiled or what so ever.. Below and above looks at least like true Sammy diodes but who knows the bin...?
I'm pretty sure Sammy has a design patent on their diodes.

However, this is nothing I would not have expected. You get what you pay for ..
I have got 26 2ft. F-series strips for $250 shipped from arrow, which is the equal of more than 6 quantumboards. I don't need to save a few extra pennies just to get ripped off.

Yepp, the cool white chips in the middle of pic.1 looks like fake. Will have a look on a few old 12v strips flying around elsewhere but I'm pretty sure these are 5630/5730 from EpiLED or so..

If you order only a few units and there is not a big deal for them to make, it is very likely that you will be considered an end user. The main thing then is, you get a working light, you can anyway not check the authenticity. Typical mentality and I have already warned months ago to trust these cheap products. Even if you get 10x real diodes, it does not mean they are still genuine on the 11st. batch.

I just received an order from mufue for the 96 lm561C rigid sunboard. the chips look identical to the pics you posted. They are supposed to be S6 bin Voltage AZ.

S6/AZ bin ... sounds interesting, but as long as I have not seen the packaging myself, I remain skeptical.
They can say a lot!
Don't get me wrong! I hope for you that they are genuine and also the binning is right. This can be easily checked with the Samsung calculator and a voltmeter.

Even HLG can not get AZ regularly and AY is anyway not available in S6. But production processes gets optimized and the yield of "better" voltage bins is maybe higher now. Who know's...?!

Have you created the gerber files by yourself or can each one buy them ready to use?
And if so, do you have a link to order them directly?
