DIY led grow

Thats a nice heatsink.

Its the same profile heatsink as the 10" profile from heatsinkusa.

http://www.heatsinkusa.com/10-000/

Price per inch is a lot cheaper on heatsinkusa but shipping is a bit more with heatsinkusa and only $10 shipping for ledgroupbuy. So for anyone who might want to buy a heatsink with that particular profile, see which is cheaper from either place you might save a couple bucks.

I am already rethinking my lighting setup and how Id like to do things differently. Trying not to spend more money on LEDs is hard cuz its so damn fun pairing parts together and building them.

Xmls and luxeons work well. Wonder how much better the cobs will be? Leds time has definitely arrived...360w and very little heat compared to the hids I used to use.

Dang bubba took off in her 5g pot. Think the blumats contribute to the growth spurts. Smart pot drying out and the on demand drip gives hydro like growth. The shorter plants got hand watered with dry periods for the first few weeks...think I need to leave the blumats off for stretch.

So what do you think about the 730nm lights? Is it possible to draw a conclusion yet, or is it still too early to tell?

Earlier in thread I posted a link to the 200w driver I'm using. Actually was a different one...there are two versions available. Model numbers end with st or dt. My model is dt...the st model I linked apparently has the dimming function removed. The st also seems to have a few more safety requirement certifications whereas my dt is only ce certified. Not sure what that translates to on the safety end.

This is the driver I have with the dimming...http://www.futurelightingsolutions.com/en/Technologies/Semiconductors/Lighting-Solutions/LED-Driver-Modules/Pages/1009944-EUC-200S105DT.aspx?ManufacturerName=INVENTRONICS&isFLS=true&IM=0

Positivity...you'd be the person to ask on 730nm.

I am putting my 730nm on a separate circuit. Would you run them full time and 5-15min at lightz out....or just 5-15min at lightz out?

I did mine at 5 min on before lights out and 5 minutes after. Just makes it easier for me to be sure they get exposed enough at lights out...timers don't have to be exactly the same time that way. Supposedly they just need a flash after lights out but this way has been easy enough and seems to work.

My 730nm leds are about 20w worth. They cause extreme stretching when on the whole time. If you wanted you could stretch out a stubby indica...lol. Otherwise I'd save it for lights out.

Tmoney > they work..just gotta look at the led section and see what's up to your expectations. There's a few good choices..DIY or ready to go. Just don't buy one without seeing what's its done..

At600 thread should be an eye opener for the hid guys..

Supra..yup, 8 3070. 6 3k and 2 4k (need to check that).

38w each? 304w... I haven't checked the draw yet. That would make 10 of these a tight fit on the drivers. Don't think I want to try running that close to the max rating. I thought it would be a few watts less for some reason.

Think I might just throw my Osram hyper reds on..maybe a few of steves led violet since they can run at 1a. Should have about 35w left on each driver, giving 10% for driver inefficiencys.

Used the cool silver thermal pad on all of them. It's a stretch to call them a pad...if you breathe too hard they tear. Just taking them off in one piece from the backing is a challenge. I smoothed out that ripple with the nonstick backing on it..

The reflector adapters are nice as they tighten down the opposing ends on the ideal holder...four sides get pinned down.

I'll post some pics later when I got more time..

Very nice ;) Looking forward to the pics btw whats the dimensions on the heatsink??

2' x 10" from ledgroupbuy. Same sink as heatsink USA but the shipping was a lot cheaper for me from groupbuy. So far I like it more than the t slot I've been using. The metal seems a little softer (fins are less rigid) but I prefer the extra width and closer fins...should cool the 350 to 400w I've been running better...not that the t slot did a bad job
