DIY: Home Made CO2 Guide

So in other words the amout of carbon dioxide is equivalent to 5 of the small co2 capsules used for airguns which ar 12grams of carbondioxide, hardly the amount of co2 needed for a 5x5 room

There is almost as much carbon dioxide as in a 2 liter bottle of soda 10grams of carbon dioxide. So no not an effective way to make carbon dioxide.

Just trying to help, didn't mean to piss all over your idea.

This is a good method of supplying co2 in ur grow room the trick to it is if a small system isnt providing you with enough u need to make a bigger 1 hence mor co2

Not worth the Effort.
..Really? I wud hav thought that wen u r getting something for next 2 nothing that it is always worth it.
This idea was never intended to supply a 5x5 room, it was meant 4 an AeroGarden, or a Closet Grower - to whom it is always worth it.
.. I'm not argueing with ur Maths, just ur logic.. If u follow the same logic, then u cud conclude that it is not worth a Closet growers time to bother growing @ all..
Hrs spent tending plant x minimum wage + outlay and running costs / harvest weight = the reality that it's probably cheaper 2 pick up an Oz from a commercial grower.
But wat we do as personal growers can't have a worth put on it, it's priceless 2us and we wud do anything 2 make it that little bit better :joint:

I agree with you when you do a dyi, there is some pride in knowing you built it yourself, and true it might make more sense to pick up an o from a comercial grower, but alot of people like growing anyways, and I can see why people do it. However sometimes on certain things its not worth the time you put in, at all. And when people do something they want to see some benefit out of it, however small it may be, but with this co2 set up you are just spinning your wheels so to speak.

The equation that I put up shows even in a closet grow the co2 generated wouldn't be enough to raise the ppm to make any significant difference. It produces the same amount of co2 in one day that you would get out of opening a 2 liter and letting it sit and decarbonate in your closet, yes that little.

So while I agree with your "logic" and see why people would like to do dyi co2 generator, it just not going to have much of a positive effect on the grow.

what can you use instead of one of those twin valve things???? would a straw work???
Somewhere in this thread some1 mentioned that a balloon over d top of ur bottle serves well in it's place. Just put a few small holes in the balloon n it will half inflate when gas is going through it, n it will still release ur gas.

Wont the fans just blow the c02 away?
co2 is like any other gas it will just stay in the air for awhile and then slowly reach out like someone just ripped a fart lol but with so much co2 going into the air right next to a plant the fan wont do much harm as, as much good the fans doing.

Yeah, you can an item that will read the levels in the room, but i believe they are expensive units.. i don't know of any cheap 1's..
I have a couple that run about 450 or so each (US $). I would go with the CAP variety if i had it to do all over again.

The CAP ones are cheaper than the units I bought, but only go to 5000 PPM rather than the 10,000 PPM cap mine go to. I tried running the CO2 off of these units, but they caused freezing etc., as they are quite sensitive. I just use an On/Off timer now, and it works pretty well.
