DIY COB reflectors

I don't know why I'm having such a hard time finding reflectors...every other component is relatively simple and abundant except for the reflectors. I guess i'm spoiled and lazy and I'm kind of used to supra doing all the leg work..lol. I just want something that'll put out an 18" circle at 12" high and will snap right onto my cob holders..is that too much to ask!? However, I know the first word in this thread is DIY so I was thinking of cutting semi-circle like strips of aluminum from soda cans and folding them over to make a cone i just dont know how to figure out the angle
Didn't you see those nice graphs SDS ran for us? Didn't that make everything clear to you?

It would be nice if there were a good reflector that would snap right onto the ideal chip holders. I think that they make them, but I haven't figured it out yet.

It looks like you have to order 60 of the Angelina-XW at a time at $7.00 a pop, so that would be rather expensive. Which is how I ended up using tuna fish cans.

So the order is now in for the Arctic 11Plus, Meanwells, 3070s, Fan Power unit and now we're down to reflectors and chip holders. Is there anyone in Europe that knows where to source the Ideal Chip-Loks? Can't seem to find any.

Thanks again to all of you for either asking my stupid questions for me, or answering those questions (and pre-empting the others I would have asked with your insanely detailed testing).

Thanks mate - was trying to find a stockist that didn't ask me to order a pack of 500 ;) (although I'd love to be in a situation to have to order 500.....imagine all that light!)

Do think that if you contact the distributor in your area they might be able to point you to one of their customers who is willing to sell the reflectors individually? The phone number of the distributor might not be the final answer, but it is a start.

I've spent some time looking at reflectors made for cobs. They all seem to be 40 degrees or less. For an emitter hanging 12-18" it seems like 75-100 degrees is closer to the ideal light angle. Am I wrong in thinking these retail parts are all going to generally be too narrow?

Neat applet for viewing angles and coverage at various heights: http://www.mathopenref.com/isosceles.html

I spose you could use the tighter angles if you have enough vertical height to allow the light circle to expand to the size you need.

Split a box of 60? That is the min. quantity, I have found.
