Hey dave I got a problem with part of my operation that leads to using the GREATEST BOX EVER, maybe you can help me with.

I keep my mother plant in my AG and have benn just taking clones and rooting them in the empty pods....but dam it if mold didn't show up. Killed my clones . its on the mothers base under the little piece of paper on top of the plastic insert. Any way to get rid of the mold without killin my girl? Shes been good to me and I would hate to kill her.....but clearly the mold is spreading around the AG and effin up my whole system.

let me know

Thanks dude

looks like i just need to add Hydrogen peroxide evry 3 days till its gone and I should be fine. I might have let it get to hot in its little closet. I be more careful from now on.

Man you should try the AG for a mother , until this mold crap its been great, and I put my clones right next to her in the other slots . nothing else, a week later they have roots and I put them in soil and into the rubbermaid they go...its a simple system man ...think you might like it.

Hello Dave and fellow growers,

This thread has inspired me to take action and I'm currently developing my box but have a few questions before completing my design which is mostly inspired by yours Dave, and a couple others I've come across in my quest for knowledge.

1. Dave can u explain in more detail how you cut your "spacer" tub to fit around you bottom one? Did you cut slits in the corners to get it to hug the bottom and how is it sealed on the inside?

2. I see in one of your pics the light fixture installed to the top of your upper bay, then another pic with it suspended inside the box. I'm still on the fence in regards of where to mount my light fixture. On the one hand, I like the idea of using an acrylic shield to help with heat issues and mount the fixture up top, which means I'll have to use box's, books etc. to raise the babies to the light. On the other hand It seems wiser to have it be adjustable so i can just set it to my desired height w/o opening the box as much, but that would nullify the effect of my exhaust fans which would be mounted at the top where the light would be if it was mounted. So I'd just like some advise on that matter if able.

3. Where can I get some of those 12v dc fans cheaper then radio shack whom wants 20 bucks for a 4x4 one? TT

4. Anyone had good/bad experiences using MG moisture control potting soil? Its all I can afford atm and there isnt many other options (besides online) in my area.

5. I decided to go with 3, 45gal tubs using one as a spacer for ample room/healthy yields, any idea how many plants, cfls i can get away with in that space, I grabbed 4, 8" pots to start with and will use some bagseeds since I'm too poor to get the good ones atm.

6. How many passive intakes do you use if any, and how many do you advise I use with my setup (45gal).

Thanks in advance guys, keep up the good work!

Excellent setup man.
one question... would a 150 watt HPS with a cooltube work well in there or would heat be an issue?

a 150w runs relatively cool as it is,a cool tube on it should be no problem with heat:-P

1.hey man the spacer is made of another tub, you cut the buttom off the tub, then cut a line straight up all 4 corners. then you put the tub on the bottom tub and tape it to the bottom one and tape the slits you made to make it air tight.
2.in this box i screwed the fixture straight to the top tub, but ive built a few boxes with the lights hanging.
3.i got the fans at homedepot but i dont remember how much they were
make an intake and an exhaust and youll be good
goodluck man.

This might be a dumb question but in order to do a sog grow using this then wouldn't you also have to have another box for veging clones?

construction on my box is complete! I decided to go with 2 tubs (45gal) to start, have the 3rd one on standby for now. Now I'm about ready to replant some babies from outside and move them to "the factory". A concern of mine atm is the soil, Im thinking if i get some bloodmeal, bonemeal, perlite, vermiclite and the fox farm trio (grow big, big bloom and tigerbloom. Is that all i need for soil and liquid food? Or do I also need a neutral soil to mix the mediums with? Not any plant/hydro stores in my area so im tryin to put lists together from lowes and wally worlds gardening sections. Any one have expierance with MG's moisture control potting soil?, and know if I can use that to mix the ingrediants listed above with or will that ensure burn? Wish I had a digi cam to shows yas my build, but it looks pretty much like this International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums - Red_Greenery's Handyman's DIY Grow Tub wih the lights in a sealed chamber. Cutting the plastic to fit was fun....

PS. Oh and thanks for the reply Dave, much appreciated.

that would be a perpetual sog,

you could still sog from seed ...
Then how is it possible to do a sog with only 1 grow space? What I mean is how will the small plants veg if the one grow area is on a flowering cycle? Does this make sense? Im starting a grow like this but wanted to do sog.

a sog is just the technique.

a high density of plants in a small area, flowered early to produce only one main cola each. giving you a bigger yeild:space:time ratio.

It's simple... you build a grow space with 2 separate chambers, one for vegging and one for flower. Each section needs a intake and a outake seperate from the other plant chamber incase you get bugs or mold you dont want to spread it into the next chamber and ruin your chances of even being able to grab some new clones from veg and flower them cause your veg will be facked also.My favorite method for sog is i built a wooden box to fit in my closet, its about 2 1/2 feet wide, about 6' long and about 4' feet high i have my 2 seperate chambers all the corners i sealed off with cualking,i then painted 2 coats of killz primer and one coat of flat white killz,i use killz becuase it has good mildew resitence.

To DaveG1i I've been looking at your photos on the first page and im trying to figure out where you intake is and whether or not you have an intake fan. I was try to do a wick system in the one I build, I haven't dicided yet.

Wow! Has anyone tried the rubbermaid grow box with a HPS?

I saw someone on this site with a similar setup and he pulled TEN oz off of TWO plants! With CFLs!
