Did I dry for too long?

I just harvested my Northern Light mama, and kept the buds hanging for about 7 days now. Last night I found the branches were stiff and some snapped when I bent em, so I figure it was time to trim and jar. Most of the buds are pretty dry, but I just read about drying in paper bags for half of the week, so I'm wondering did I dry em out too much? If I cure them now, will there not be enough moisture? I put an orange peel and a lemon peel in a few jars... that should generate a little more moisture yeah?

the stems should snap that way you know its dry enuff to jar .. give it a day or so in the jar and open to see if the moisture has returned... if so leave open for abit then reseal .. repeat every day for about a week or so... lettuce is much better to use than peels(if the buds are really dry) as it imparts no flavor .. unless thats what you want

If you say some stems snapped then I'm assuming that some others did not? If this is the case, there is still a little moisture in the stems of some of the buds and this will automatically draw out into your buds as they are in the jar sealed.

Peace

I have just learned the hard way about how dry you want them. I had a goood crop last year and since I knew that it would take awhile to use up that much I dried mine for an xtra week plus in paper bags with a fan so I could then store them in 1 gal. glass jars. Well evidently they were not dry enough cause about 45 days ago I went to my basement to get some nugs and holy shit batman 1 whole jar was full of mold. So I took the rest out of the jars back into paper bags with a fan blowing on them to get rid of any lingering moisture. Well yesterday I was back for more and CRAP I lost another jar to mold even had crackers in em', So to get to the point if yer goin to store for any length of time I guess they need to be super duper dry as a fucking bone dry before I put mine up again.

not only do they have to be properly dried, but it's a good idea to vacuum seal it (as much as you can), and store them in the freezer.

I think your bud will be great. Sounds like they are ready to put loosely in a jar for 24 hours. If crispness has disapeared and the bud is "sweating" leave the jar open for 24 hours - if crisp again close the jar. Keep doing this untill your bud is smokable directly from the jar - when it's ready pack it a little tighter in a completely air tight jar - store for at least a couple of months (12 is better). Your bud will be sweet and you did not dry too fast.
Good luck!

I put the rest of the trimmed buds in jars, and am storing in a dark place now for a few weeks. I put small orange and lemon peels in a few jars two nights ago, and today today the buds seem a lot less cripsy. I took all the buds out and let them breath for a while then back in with the drying peels and left the jars open for a bit.

Sounds like you got that under control. Never tried lemon peals in my jar - might try that.

If I'm still in the process of trimming more plants, I'll put a few fresh fan leaves in the jar overnight if it's gone too dry.

I think the peels were too much moisture... so i had to leave the jars open for about a day to get em dry enough. Still a little nervous if I'm doing everything right... just don't want to ruin my harvest... and make sure the buds are in their prime

DONT EVER FREEZE YOUR BUD!!! What the fuck? Would you freeze a banana or a peach? Hell no try it and see what happens. when you freeze your bud you not only make the thrics brittle you dry out your bud and every time you handle them your losing potency and flavor. Keep them vac sealed in a cool dark place.

You were probably fine after drying to just jar them up and burp daily.

Even though the buds may seem dry there is still some moisture in there.

How do they seem now?
