Debating on LED or HPS

Unfortunately he only had a foot candle meter. I was able to compare it to a 1000 watt hps with this meter. Both lights hit 1000 @ around 36". I should of wrote the measurements down. 12" down and 2'6" out the meter was in the 800 range. Can't remember. These measurements don't mean much, but I can't spend $400 for the right light meter.

I would like to jump in because I too also would like to make that change to Leds. I truly and really thought that hydrogrowled would be a contender to area51 and apache. They "seem" I will say that again "seem" from corresponding with them that there product is of high quality "top bin" LEDs. I was monstly interested in there new Sol 9 900watt which they clam draws 900watt compared to a 1500 hps but I will compare to a 1000watt. I pretty much want to know will it cover a 4x4 area with considerable penetration.

Area51 has low wattage leds can they be really considerable good ?
Apache loot great, price wise you get what you pay for (want greatness, pay a great price)

Hydro Grow LED is bad news, I would steer clear of them.
They have a long and sorted history, these links sum up a portion of their past problems.

Very intensive reading there. I kind of understand but then again don't. So hydrogrow has a bad name but people change hopefully for the better. At the end of the day people are still buying there product. nevergoodenuf seems happy. I truly don't know but his grow looks nice. Are there product aka grow lights (fans, heatsink, diodes) bad or are they "top bin" ? And will there product produce good product.

I am am not here to bash any company I just want best bang for buck, reliability and performance. I am not a heavy forum post I come here to get ideas and learn. Area51 the new 2014 there spectrum with all white look great but from there chart it really only covers a 2x2 area at best my opinion. There fore for a 4x4 I would need 4 lights for a even canopy (@18" 190w examine there specs data sheet). Hydrogrow new sol 9 900watt. No data as of yet hopefully nevergoodenuf can give us one or someone still look for 26 or 30 point Umole test. But as said it does cover a 5x5 area great. Apache AT600 4x4 not so great at end but side by side the other light would help with Umole just price is so great the only thing I can see.

Sorry for the long babble, just try to understand and get my point across.

Cammie does not change her habits, that's why I provided those links, as proof.
She's been doing this a long time, over and over again, through various businesses.
Let me put it this way, anyone who's willing to cut their cock and balls off to escape their debts and responsibilities, has serious issues.
Yes Cammie used to be a man, but changed genders, so it could take on a new identity to escape prosecution.
I don't care that she's transgender, but doing that solely to avoid responsibility is seriously fucked.
To me, that just shows the level of shit that she got herself in, that she had to go that far to save her life.
Can you even imagine how bad you'd have to fuck up your life that you need to have a sex change operation just to go into hiding?
She is a con-artist, a scammer, she will rip you off, I don't know how to say it more clearly.

I believe you'd only need two Area 51 XGS-190's to adequately cover a 4x4 tent.
Four of them would do absolutely amazing in there, but would be overkill.
To know for sure, contact Area 51, they are very open and realistic about the capabilities of their lights.

I've been using HPS and MH for a while now but I'm really debating on whether I should try LED...

I use a 400w MH for veg and a 600w HPS for flower. I've reallybeen looking into the Hydrogrow LED SOL series to replace both and no longer have to change light types and also reduce heat. The price of the LED is not an issue I just would like to know if they will produce good results.

I know the cheaper LED companies are BS but all the research I've done Hydrogrows lights are right at the top with the other main companies.

I'll either step up to 1000w MH and HPS or try the 900w LED SOL series.

Any input would be helpful...

NO LED HATERS JUST KNOWLEDGE PLEASE...
Right now I have a 740 watt LED vs a t5 vho 8 lamp fixture battle going on. The LED is losing, and the t5 VHO is a better fixture in my opinion.. Not too deep, so you can pull it way up if you have to, not too hot so you can lower it right down on the canopy and the spread is fantastic. Have grown 8 plants under the 2'x4 8 lamp fixture, and I would be pushing it to do 4 under the 1'x3' 740 watt LED. If heat is an issue, go t5.

Wow, lol epic thread. Thanks for the revealing backstory - it makes total sense. Damn she used to shill that LED shit all over one of forums I used to visit when I first looked at LED a few years back.

I was checking out the Illumitex recently. I like the passive heat sinks and it's footprint but to me those advantages don't really justify $4 per watt.

Other good brands come in at well under $3 per watt.

I think someone could DIY one for around or just over $2 per.

I've seen that video before, actually, I've posted it in one of the other threads :D
I've always been interested in seeing more Illumitex grows in action, but I have yet to see any, besides this video.
If you do pick one up, please do us all a favor, and do a grow journal with it.
We'd love to see the results.

Yeah, she's been banned from pretty much every grow forum around.
She would hijack any grow journal that wasn't using her lights, picking fights, making wild claims, until she would piss each grower off enough to quit their journals.

Will Do.. Emailing them now to "See" If i will be able to obtain the X5 spectrum. If not I will just go with the F3.
I am not big in the grow journal But Since this will be a big investment and a big change for me i surely will. I cant promise it will be in a month or so but give me at least 4 months (change of location) and i will have that running from veg to flower.

Let me know what they say about the x5 because when I asked about them around 6-7 months ago, they told me they were discontinued because the red/blue were outperforming them. They are supposedly releasing new chips sometime in the near future from what I've heard.

Got confirmation

The X5 has not been discontinued and is available in the Eclipse product only.
The NeoSol NS is still available in F3 and in January we will introduce the NeoSol DS that is 4' long and will have 96 LED arrays vs the 54 for the NeoSol NS.
Our trials still show the F3 outperforming the X5.

Since the NeoSol DS is coming out
I will be First in Line.

Dont worry there will be a grow soon. I am Sold on it and that is the next Move for me.
