De-leafing

hi guys just wondering on people's thoughts bout this subject....
A fren of mine grows commercial and he said to me that he deleafs as much leaves on his plants around the 6 week mark so that he gets more lights to his buds which increases his overall weight at harvest....!!
My question is,"do you think this helps with harvest weight,or do you think it does more bad than good for you plants"?

It's generally not recommended to cut off fan leaves if you don't have to. I did in my latest grow due to soaring humidity it was like a jungle in there. I just cut away enough so light gets through to the bottom of my tent.

But if you don't have to don't.

I'd ask him if shavin his pubes makes his dick look bigger ?

Buds are sinks, they do not require nor do they use light, getting light to the leaf that supports the bud is the key. If you remove it not so much ???

Left all leaves left on, right de-foiled, you tell me, does shavin my leaves make my bud look bigger?

he's a commercial grower and actually said de-leafing?
lmao
I was thinking the same lol, leave them alone dude, just tuck the leaves under any buds.

For a commercial grower to say that it does not make sense,Most commercial growers i know, leave sugar leaf around the bud's this is not a bad thing has long has these leaves have thc on them, but this is where they get the extra money from when selling the good's on.

Only ever take leave's of that are below say a table,if growing scrog or sog style,The only leaf that i take ,are ones that are laying on the grow room floor and have fell of on there own.No leafs taken of the two i have going below,no need, every so often i just go in and keep tucking the leafs under the bud's . 215.JPG

I defoliate a few times but their is a very specific way to doing it be careful doing this the wrong way can stunt growth and probably cause other problems I don't experience because I was taught the right way also be careful for some of the well known members will call u all kinds of stupid for using defoliation techniques

When I say de-leafing I don't mean fuckn take every leaf possible off the fuckn plant u fuckwits,I mean all the fan leaves not the sugar leaves.

Plants require sunlight for energy. The fan leaves and leaves in general are the solar panel of the plant.

No solar panel = no energy.

Leaves are also full of nutrients that the roots wick up and store there. The plant then "eats" the energy stored in the leaves when needed. Especially at flowering time.

No storage bank = No avail nutrients when needed.

If your going to remove leaves then have a plan of attack. Some very successful growers only remove leaves when the leaf is near dead and all nutrients have been used up.

Everyone is referring to just the sun leaves, not the sugar leaves, and it's still not recommended by most. You should try it and see for yourself if it works. Fuckwits.....nice.

Read this and apply it to all areas of the plant!

If you don't like humor? You better get used to it!

This whole topic is HOTLY debated around here. I have done some on a few "pure" Indica strains that simply have massive leaves shading bud sites. I did this to get the buds to ripen more evenly.....Only a very few and never to "increase" anything like yield. it just doesn't work that way in my book.

Now then ( I think this might become a favored tag line)

Lighten up Francis!

If done correctly it does increase harvest weight and you'll have far less loss to larf in my experience...I defoliated a week before flowering I do all my ladies like thisIMG_20160514_165823-COLLAGE.jpg
And here they are today two weeks later and one week into floweringIMG_20160525_100622.jpgThen about 2.5 weeks into flowering I do a little bit more defoliating but nowhere near as much as the first time, and that's it till the end of flowering, works like a charm for me.

It's a different matter de leafing with my only a week to go,but I still would not advice it last 3/4 week most important in my opinion

I agree, I usually don't touch them after 3 weeks of flowering except for big fan leaves blocking bud sites...Here's a solo shot of the same plant two weeks later, most likely if I didn't say I defoliated people probably wouldn't even know.IMG_20160526_003601.jpg
