Day 70 of veg. Wtf?!?!?

I added some pics so you guys can see whats going on. Im now in my second week of flowering. Some plants are over 3ft tall. Some are not even 1ft. ( had to replant them) the tallest ones have been topped early in veg. Kinda hard to see in the pics. They are in the back row. The smallest ones will be put back in veg as soon as the clones take. 20160504_035803.jpg 20160504_035815.jpg 20160504_035448.jpg

Ill get to it. I see a lot of people going from veg to flowering in weeks. I am 2 months in to my grow and still not ready to flower. Im using a dwc set up. 600w hps mh light. 18 and 6 light cycle. Plants look great, roots look great. Plants are about 2 ft tall and matured so i know they can be flowered. But will flowering them 30 days into veg hurt my yield? And if so, why flower so fast?. Or is me waiting so long to flower actually going to hurt my yield. I know there are alot of variables, but just imagine all the factors are were they should be, temp, ph, applied nutes etc etc. At the rate i grow i can only get 2 harvest a year vs other people getting 4. Any info is appreciated. Thanks
You should really flower now. Especially if you have a sativa dominant strain. In doors, I would veg an indica for only 1.5 months. Indicas, you could go a little longer, but sativa and sativa-dominant hybrids, if you do that shit, you're going to have a tree growing into your ceiling.

Im seeing that now. Just turned to flowering a week ago. They are getting very tall. I added some pics. Take a look

They are quite stretchy, your light is too far away. Understandable with you using a 600w, those fuckers are hot for young uns. If you can dial back your 600w i'd say dial it back a lot so you can keep it real close while you veg or get weaker lighting for veg.

I actually just moved my light again, they are growing so freaking fast now that they are in flowering. Its about week 2 of flowering. Easily a good ft of growth. They grow into the light so fast i had to move it that high because of the heat. Any lower the tops of the plants are to hot.

Yeah it's too late now to fix anything, just grow this out and then next time get some lower powered lights and keep em really close so you can get a nice bushy plant. It doesn't make sense to have em tall and lanky with only one good cola unless you're doing a ton of plants in a SOG.

Do you have a fan in there? Stems seem small?

You can reduce HPS stretching by running a small pure red light for 5-10 minutes after the HPS goes off. It counters the stretching caused by the far red. I'm doing it now with white LED, because even that has enough far red to cause stretch. I actually run a couple 13w red CFLs on a separate timer so that they come on at the same time as the LEDs but stay on for 12 hours and 5 minutes while the LED timer is only on for 12 hours. I just started that a few days ago and the stretching of plants immediately slowed way down even though it was only about 10 days into flowering and would normally keep stretching at that point. But you can also just run it for the 5-10 minutes only if you want to save on power.

I've read where such red light at end of day has been used with HPS for greenhouse light supplementation with other types of plants to keep stem elongation down that the HPS alone caused, so I know it does work well with HPS.

Maybe some people can speak on what they consider "Veg"? I think this may be a factor in some people's issues like the OP, as some seems to start counting when the first true leaves show or a clone first shows roots, while others will "pre-veg" for up to a month before "veg" starts lol.
I personally am pretty arbitrary, I just start counting when they are vigorous enough to pot up to a 1 gallon, maybe about 1.5-2 weeks after sprout/root...

So for me 30 days of "veg" can be closer to 44 days of actual growth....

Yea there is a fan in there. This is my frst grow with this strain, which is a sativa dominant strain. Im attributing that to alot of the lanky tall stretchy look. Ive grown other strains before and usually get the shorter bushier plant you are talking about. This is basically a learning experience. I still think i should get a somewhat decent yield though. All things considered.

This og18 was flipped at 13" tall 18" wide (6 weeks from seed) in a diy undercurrent with a chiller. I ended up having to cut the top off cause it exploded to over 5ft x 5ft and it also stopped up the piping had to cut earlier than i wanted but still got over 8oz.

Nice. Im Assuming your using a recirculating system? Having a chiller and all.

Yea i was. Recirculating about 12 times an hour and running an alita al40 air pump. I tore it down and rebuilt with yellow top totes though. I wanted to slow the vertical growth. You really cant scrog at all in the buckets because the roots fill up the system so fast.

Or just use blue spectrum for the first couple weeks of stretch if you have a MH

I am 8 weeks into veg plants are 14 inches in 3 gallons. I also heard some say that mature plants that people let veg longer produce more potency buds. Could be just their thinking but thought I put the thought there.

If it's personal smoke, hang it. You'll get better looking buds.

Did you do any topping or lst at all? I wanted to da a recirculating system at some point, but the cost, learning a new system, and the fact its kinda stuck in place has stopped me for now. But if your getting 8 off one plant it may ne worth it. Im only getting half that maybe. But im also not doing much topping lst etc...

I wouldnt expect 8oz just because its recirculating. That was a single plant run with 1k hps.

I go right when I see it come out the ground. If you did a seed straight 12/12 isn't that when you would start your timer?
