CXA3590 Build Plan

Not a led but a silicon chip generation 22w in heat, so numbers are a bit off but I figured the comparison could be interesting.

No fan, alu cool plate (and alu heatsink), some tim. Ambient temp 21C.


3500rpm fan, left alu plate, right copper.


Under water (as in fully emerged, no air)


Heat sink uncovered. Two 5600rpm fans on both sides pulling air out of it (which would be more effective on top). I don't have snapshots but without fans the heat increased with 50% by closing up that long heat sink with plating.

Water... emerged...


Time to let my computer cool off...

Why would he put in 22W? Assuming 100W dissipated, if they generated 22W of heat, the emitters would be 78% efficient. Efficiency is not how many grams of weed your lamp grows, it tells you how big of a heat sink you need!

Considering efficiency will be closer to 38%, you should plug in 62W, not 22W. That would be a much better approximation!

efficiency = power out / power in

The rest goes to the heat sink! Not 22W.

Imagine how useful this guy would be if he actually helped out rather than being a prick all the time. Nice simulations!

The input was arbitrary and not meant to simulate Doer's setup or anyone else's (obviously...). Like I said "I figured the comparison [with and without fan and copper plate] could be interesting."

You make it a point to ignore efficiency in particular... so when you used the number 22W, you made it clear that you don't understand why we use efficiency instead of uMol/J alone. It's because you can't design heat sinks around uMol/J.

Thank you for hypothetically solving one of our problems while ridiculing all our specific designs just for being "led"... except for doers attempt which you seem to be particularly interested in...

It's not a led heat sink design... what it is is clearly described. Just delusional and as typical by now results in another straw man.
