Commercial Grade Air Pumps????

If it looks like a coral life sl-65 they get hot as hell on the head and the black strip in the center. I run one also and I'm looking into retiring it to backup in place of a true linear piston air pump. The coral life style ones are magnetic air pump that are loud hot and use a fair amount of power, but they do put out a lot of air and are more reliable then diaphragm pumps. The linear pistons have no draw backs execpt price. Alita pumps look like the best bang for the buck but this site explains them. http://www.jehmco.com/html/central_air_pumps.html

You should be fine at those temps, my pump heats my buckets to 72 max, it used to be cooler because I had the air pump hanging infront of the AC. The noise of the pump pisses me off more then the heat it is by far the most head ache causing sound in the room

the directions that came with mine was to only have it run 15 minutes like 4 times a day. I tried leaving mine on and it got hot enough it shut itself off. I started running mine 15 on 45 off.

I'm guessing your talking about the splitter or manifold you connect the tubing to? It shouldn't be too hot to touch, should be the same temp as the pump. Try adding more stones or use bigger ones. You should also see if your stones are plugged by blowing through them yourself.

No problem with the actual function of the pump, I just wasn't sure if the heat was normal or not.
