if u use it too early then it may slow growth... it also shouldnt be used the last week or 2, but besides that, it really cant be used too long... maybe something else caused the problems?
the only reason i say that is because at the time i used it, i used it on a plant that i had been cloning for a while and no previous problems with. but when i harvested it i noticed a few seeds at the bottom of a few of the buds. and by the level of maturity they had achieved, i figured that the amount of time it takes for a seed to mature matched up with the second or third time i had given it the PK. but that was just my experience.

ok yes i know look at the plant..I would rather be a step ahead of that and give my girls the right amount of water.
I'm hand watering i have b-cuzz coir/perlite w/waist 1/2in run-off.
house & garden nutts are great but you pay a $$$$ for them i dont want to waist it..
1. can i plug run off drain hose and cut holes in it for a slower drain and a better soak?
2.water 2 times a day
3.a real good soak
3b.can i use waist if ph is right((or should i use a little fresh and a little a waist?))
4. use nutts 1 day use plain water the next day...

hit me back w/ how you hand feed or your water regiment...
1st swich to Canna if you can. well this is what i use to feed my plants. just a 1 liter soda bottle with small holes drilled through it. i use 3gal pots, i guess that would be about an 11 liter pot, but two bottles usually does the trick. check my journal, post #43. i give my entire feeding schedule. oh, and now i water like every 5 to 6 days. hope it helps

I have just started my first Coco grow and I am needing some urgent advice. Please excuse me if I am covering old ground,

but I am slowly working through the 60+ pages of this thread and it does take time (I will get there though).

I have grown quite a few times outdoors and indoors, soil and soil-less. My only soil-less grow prior to this was in 100%

perlite with chemical nutes a very long time ago, but I am now looking to grow organically in Coco. I have always had good

results but I am having one hell of a headache at the moment. I moved to the country a while ago and have been trying to

grow in soil with all sorts of problems. I was chasing what I thought to be nute deficiencies, but after many failed grows

I finally used some pH drops (never had any problems before) and found my rain water that I was using to be about pH 8.0!

I have since moved to our pond water which is about pH 6.5. Around this time someone recommended coco. I found a shop that

sold compressed bricks (no hydro shop close by) and washed some very thoroughly with pH 5.5 - 6.0 water. I started some

seeds and all seemed to be going well.

I am using the following organic nutes as I can't get coco specific ones and don't want to buy from net:

N 2.7%
P 0.4%
K 0.7%
Calcium 0.2%
Sulphur 0.2%
Boron 300mg/Ltr
Molybdenum 29mg/Ltr
Zinc 282mg/Ltr
Magnesium 278mg/Ltr
Manganese 53mg/Ltr
Iron 97mg/Ltr
Copper 24mg/Ltr

Recommended feeding in soil with these nutes is 5ml/Ltr every 2 weeks

I am currently feeding the seedlings by hand with the above nutes at a 1/8 strength (0.6ml/Ltr) pHed to about 5.8, once a

day with about 20% run off. Temperatures currently range from 10C - 25C (in my attic), humidity 30-50%.

I have attached some photos to show my current problem.

The first picture shows a seedling started in pure coco.

The second shows two seedlings that were in soil being fed the unadjusted pH 8.0 water. I washed the soil carefully off

these two and repotted in coco (20% perlite). They seemed to recover really quickly (they were incredibly sick) but have

now developed the same issue as the coco only seedling.

I have retested the pH of the nute solution in a bottle after 24hrs and it seems to move up in pH to about 6.4. I use a

fresh batch of solution each day.

Are the above nutes sufficient, or do I need to add more Calcium and/or Magnesium? (I assume the Calcium level is OKish)

Is the Nitrogen level too high in these nutes?

Is the pH of the solution rising likely to cause these problems?

These are my assumptions about the situation:

The leaf tips appear burnt so I assume I am over feeding them for this young age, but I thought that 1/8 nutes should be

quite mild. New growth has only very minimal burning at the tips, but old growth seems to be getting necrotic spots and

gray areas starting from the tip and moving in towards the main stem. The gray areas are very crispy to the touch and it

seems to progress slowly each day. I have also repotted into coco a much older very sick plant that does not seem to have

these problems yet and has much darker growth although it has only recently recovered enough to really start growing much

(same nutrients and strength).

I assume it could possibly be Magnesium deficiency, but there isn't any interveinal chlorosis.

I have just bought a pH and an EC pen, but I have to wait for calibration solutions to come in (around 2 weeks) so I can't

do exact testing until then.

I have tried to find Cal/Mag to experiment with, but can't get it locally. I am able to get a solution that is:

Calcium 19%
Phosphorous 8%
Magnesium 8%
Boron 0.7%

Recommended feeding in soil is 10ml/10 Ltrs every 3 months

Can any of you gurus please steer me in the right direction as I am about to go insane through lack of bud and my frustration!!!

kiss-ass

P.S. Sorry for the long post.

To comment a bit more on my setup, this is my veg room, in the closet I have 6-4ft shop lights i think are 43 watts each with both red and blue spectrum bulbs for rooting, I can fit 4 clone trays under that set up ( roughly 120 clones) But I have switched to rooting in larger pots instead of rapid rooters because, They seem to have less stress and quicker root mass they are half gallon pots which they stay in that for the first month from cutting, but I can only fit 28 of those under the rooting area, no problem. I use city water but distilled for 48 hours then ph'ed to 5.6. with just super thrive, I start to add nutes about a week after roots, 1 teaspoon per gallon of fish emlusion by Alaska 5-1-1 O,M,R,I listed organics, You can buy this at Lowes and some Home depots though I suggest this is the only nutes other then super thrive I ever buy from a local store thats not hydro shop. But this stuff works great I've been using it for years with great results they also make flower nutes that are 0-10-10 that is also organic here is a link because I give these guys credit for a low price quality organics ( http://www.planetnatural.com/site/xdpy/sb/Alaska Fish Fertilizer )

My soil is mainly Botanicare compressed coco bale (perth) , and thick coco (crutons) , perlite, pro-mix peat and organic kitchen compost, organic cow manure compost. and the bottom three two four inches are filled thick coco for bottom feeding and hydroponics, and later on I will start topping my mix off cedar shavings to avoid gnats.

Now i have three seperate rooms not including rooting closet, one for veg two for flower, the veg room is the biggest just to hold a ample amount of mothers and newly cloned plants and male plants ( which will be in there own little cabinet) in the veg room I have 8 - 2 bulb 4ft shop lights ( 16 bulbs ) 1 600 lumantic hps/mh ballast and two 400 MH ballasts ( which are not being used currently, now I haven't bought the lights for the flower rooms yet but I will be using 2-1000 hps/mh ballast for both flower rooms both on flip flops which are so you only have to buy 2 ballast to work as four, when one flower room turns off the power is switched to either flower room, if that makes since. Im not using hoods just hanging bulbs not concern for heat because both room will have window units, and I plan on going to Co2 in a couple of months when I can afford it, just for the flower rooms. I will the ceilings for reflectors because I will use 2 mm ploy shield, until I can afford parabolic reflectors ( http://www.planetnatural.com/cgi-bin/planetnatural/parabolic-reflector )

Now Im trying to go for a bi-weekly harvest, one room will be for the first 4 weeks ( 1 light will be for week 2 the other light will be for week 4) now thats the early flower room the other room will for week 6 and week 8 , of course the plants wont move just the order their in, with the week 8 being the flush table. It just takes time to setup.

Now I will be using 5-7 gallon pots in a kiddie pool for each light with two month old vegged plants when entering flower, so these will be pretty large plants. I am aiming for 1 pound for every 2 weeks, regardless if I don't make that number it will still be great. Just say if I do hit that number let me break down the math real quick, one pound is worth 7300 so in one month that is 14600, in one year that is $175,200.00 in ten years that is 1,752,000.00. but on the one year scale, lets say I will make hash out of half of that so thats 87,600, and then I will smoke a 1/4 of that so thats 43,800 then I will lose half of that ( due to being stoned) so that puts me at 21,900 then I will give away all of that leaving me with 0000.00 so needless to say I don't sell marijuana or make any profit off it and these numbers are not real and just a dream, so if you a cop please do not bust down my door thinking your going to have a huge bust, because it's not like that. And the twist that I live in texas but grow is southern Califorina which I hold a legit state issued medical license to produce legal marijuana to four of my patients and I am completely full of shit and you would only find some Japanese maple ( good bloods) and some tomatoes and shit like that .......

Well guys I got the damn cord for my camera so here it is, it's not much but keep in mind these are all mom's and going in 55 gallon trash cans in a couple months the smaller pots are the comrade x blue 11 with three different pheno's two very indica and one seems to be more sativa two are for sure females already showing sex, and the other indica pheno is not showing sex yet, hoping for a male, for my breeding project.

and the bigger 7 gallon pots are all cuts from the larger Jack Herer mom,

first I will show yall my tomatoes in my off season

so it's tried and trued!

i would make some changes...

you want good drainage and run off when growing in coco.... dont plug any drain holes, and dont let your container sit in standing water.(more than 20 minuts can start to cause damage)

watering 2 times a day is most likely going to be a waste of your nutes unless your in really small pots that are losing a lot of their water weight in between waterings (if the pot hasnt lost a decent amount of its water weight, then you are just wasting nutes)

dont re-use your waste water unless you really know what you are doing and even then i wouldnt recommend it.... if you really want to recycle your nutes then you may have better results using H&G aqua flakes instead of the coco nutes, which arent designed for re-using.

also, if you use at least a small amount of nutes every time you water then will microlife will be stronger than if you use plain water in between feedings.

coco works best when the it is still wet but not soggy wet, you will get growth spurts during the times when the container is light to pick up but NOT dry.

overdose or ph problem...
when you get your pens calibrated, check the run off.
untill then try flushing with a bunch ph'd water (5.8) and wait 3 days or so to see what happens (make sure you flush a ton of water threw it).... if it pales up then u can start with the light nutes again. If the problem gets worse than you know its probably not nute burn and more likely a ph/lock out issue.

I am using the botanicare cocogro. I like it as much as canna. Anyone else using this?

COCOGRO ™ has a very low salt content that is available in 34 ”double-sieved long fibers to reduce dust and give ample space within the mix. COCOGRO ™ has excellent drainage properties and can be used over a longer period of time than coir fiber with shorter fibers. With longer fibers and reduced dust, growers will experience an optimal air to water ratio, which is vital for strong root development. COCOGRO ™ is unique because it is not chemically treated like other coir fibers on the market. COCOGRO ™ is a superior coir fiber because it is aged a minimum of 18 months and has finished its decomposition stage. In addition, COCOGRO ™ is exposed to rain water from at least three monsoon seasons, which naturally washes away harmful salts out of the final product. Most other coir fibers are only 4 to 5 months old and have excessive potassium and salts and thus have to be chemically treated.
COCOGRO ™ is available in these sizes:

42.4 liter/1.5 cubic ft. (loose material)-NOW AVAILABLE!

Seems we have a hater in our mists. What is your rationale for dis-crediting coco?
What is you growing experience?
Why are you so obnoxious?
Are you a little kid that is using his parents computer?
This thread is to share information and gain advice. If that isn't what your here for than beat it kid.

Hey fellows my advice would be to just completely ignore this guy. If he has any information to share or questions he can do that, but other than that everyone should just let the kid be.
