day
yes you can....the 1st method I tried with coco ((my 2nd indoor grow)) was the with double pots and I hand watered once a day,,,I got 2 pounds of buds from 4 plants :^D

Hey,

i get my best results on coco that has been used 2 or 3 times. Nothing really wrong with the 1st time but bigger better yields on used coco. I re use my slabs 4 or 5 times have used some before for up to 8 times. i do use extra zyme when they are 2 or 3 times used.

Canna Coco with Canna Coco Nutes Full range, 2.5 wks from harvest. Bubblelicious

i get better yields my second use of coco as well. i only use mine twice cuz i get scared of using it too many times.

i flushed them for a couple days before the switch to canna nutes. i ran literally gallons of straight ro water through each pot each day.

something crazy i didn't mention, the first time i fed with canna after flushing i gave them about 600ppm and the runoff was a 45ppm. i checked over and over to be sure. even now my runoff ppm's are at 300-400 after feeding at 750ppm! are they just eating that much?

after checking out each plant i can see that some of them have redirected growth to the least damaged growing tips while others are in kind of a stalemate with all their growing tips fried. i'll continue vegging the ones that are trying hardest and see if some of those new shoots will clone. otherwise, things will go a lot better with the clones i pick up next week now that i won't be using gh nutes.

...and i'll try upping the pH a bit. runoff swings from 6.3-6.9 without any logic that i can see so that's why i try to keep input pH low but i'm sure what's going in matters more than what's coming out.

thanks for the help.
yes, yer ppm's are coming out lower cuz the plant is eating.
maybe your ph is coming out high because of those days flushing with non ph'd water? if u flushed with tap water than it probably has a higher ph than desired. 6.9 run off is high for coco.

ph and ppm run off from coco are not 100% accurate but they still give you a rough idea of whats happening in your medium.

my run off is usually close to what it was when it went in, ppm and ph wise.

wonder why yer havin soo much trouble... got any recent pics?

they look pratically the same as the pics that i posted on page 28 of this thread, just with some yellowing of the more damaged leaves and there's tiny little new shoots on some of them.

i flushed with ro water that's at about 6.5pH and 0-5ppm.

my runoff is getting more consistent, they must have been starving after two days of flushing.

i'm pretty sure most of my trouble is the irrepairable damage casued by the obviously imbalanced diet they were getting.

i'm going to hit up some dispensaries tomorrow and see what i can find to just replace the most tore back bitches. a couple of my hindu skunks will be able to provide cuttings so i don't have to repurchase that strain, but i'm not as optimistic about my gdp or purple kush.

really sucks, too. most folks that grow from seed probably think buying clones must be so easy...i drove almost five hours round trip for my gdp cuttings to get them from the gdp collective in san pablo, ca. their unique gdp strain is one of the most beautiful cannabis plants i've ever seen and the smoke is on par with everything else i've tried. at least if i have to go back i can ask about the genetics...

also, i'm going to run some of this next batch in a new dwc setup that i'm working on right now. that way even if i fuck up with the coco again i won't be so screwed.

yes once a day is fine, just dont let them dry out.

which brings me to ask, to reuse coco do i really need to treat it with anything between plantings (as in enzymes, etc. to clean it of dead roots)?

Yes you should use canna Zym, i use it at near double strength when i'm using used coco. I get better results with old stuff.

any idea why Madazz?

Hey Don Gin & Ton
No,I'm not really sure.when i get new slabs they seem really flat & thin. after being used they swell right up, i guess that gives better air to the roots and allows to drain a bit more freely. Thats my guess.

same applies to the bag stuff i wonder how it works tho coco being inert it wont soak up and store any nutes?!

anyone else got any input? wild theory? heresay? comical projections?

well you read about coco being good at retaining 'beneficial bacteria', so maybe the fact that it has already been used increases these bacteria making it an even happier medium for your roots. IDK....just a thought. For 2 people to have the same improved results, there must be something in it. V interesting though.

hahah sounds like one of those anti ageing cream adverts on the telly, 'beneficial bacteria to stop you looking like an old hag and increase your chances off blowing off those cobwebs'......

i've been feeding them all with the same mix, i probably should mix something lighter for the smaller ones...

feeding canna coco a+b with advanced sensi cal/mg and voodoo. i use ro water that's at 6.5pH and <5ppm because my tap is 300ppm and fucking nasty chlorinated flouridated pharm'ed recycled piss. so because canna says to use tap water i first add 100ppm cal/mg and mix to get a consistent baseline every time.

then i add the a+b at about 600-650ppm right now. then i use 2tsp/gal voodoo - about 1/3 of an's stupidly high instructed dose (i'll definitely be trying out rhizotonic once i use up my voodoo). comes out to 700-750ppm then i raise the pH to just over 5.4 trying to get there with one shot of pH up.

i mix in 5gal buckets so after mixing i throw an air stone in there, aerate for an hour, recheck pH (its usually almost 5.5 by then), then feed.

i hand feed twice a day with a 500mL water bottle, 10 3gal pots from 0.5L-1.5L each feeding according to need and i feed 12hrs apart. running drain to waste, 5 gallons lasts me about 3-4 feedings with very little runoff...much more expensive than my dwc setups.

i don't mean to overestimate everyone's interest with this novel but it seems like you folks are having a much easier time with this and i don't get it.

i'd really like this shit to work because i'm tired of pH spikes everytime i try new things and cleaning airstones all the time. also, because horticultural grade H2O2 isn't available around here, a beneficially populated medium would be nice to combat the constant threat of root rot and other b.s. that comes with introducing organics into dwc.

i'm really glad this thread is here or i'd have probably ditched coco and went back to dwc already. eventually i'd like to keep two mothers at a time each in a 5gal bubble bucket and do all my clones & crops in coco. i think that'd be the best use of what i have on hand already anyways.
dude as i said to each his own, but you are making it a little more difficult than it should be. #1: REGULAR TAP WATER IS ALL YOU NEED.#2(most important, and if you dont believe me, research it)with canna coco, and its products the medium is at it's best when it is somewhat moist to dry, because of the way coco holds and releases fluids as it dries(which is not like dirt, or fox farm. the nutes are bonded to the coco in a much different fashion so the roots search for nutes differently, that's why its not supposed to stay wet. like i said dont go by my words or experience. read the back of your A-B bottle, or on the back of your bag of coco get the web address and find out for your self. understand that this is not your conventional hydroponics, so the same rules dont apply,....AT ALL. but a lot of you hydro guys try to apply the same principles, mistake. yea your TAP water has to be ph'd, but that's about the only thing that is similar all of the ppm's, and EC crap is not necessary. if you are using Canna coco only use coco specific products(BTW voodoo juice is not coco specific, H2o2 is not even necessary, or recommended) like i said i have been on it for over two years, and i researched the hell out of it before i started with it, ok. so before you spend another dime of your hard earned money i beg you to look into canna coco. an hell like i tell anyone check out my journal, I THINK its pretty informative. all i'm running is two 400wt hps for flower and i'm doing pretty good, hell ask madazz he's been to my journal. he can tell you i know what i'm talking about. and i am not trying to" tell you a thing or two" i just just really hate it when because a person is not properly informed and they end up wasting precious time and money, that's all........CHECK OUT MY THREAD, MAN.

wat do i need to start growing in coco slabs ive been looking at some 1 metre slabs an trays wat else do i need
loose coco is best. plus it's reusable, cheaper, less time consuming, a lot less effort with some what similar results, but hey its your choice.

PEACE!!!
