Clones from flowering plants w/pics

Two days ago I decided I would take some clones off my buddies MM grow (5wks into flower) for his next round and my first. I have ordered seeds and have them as a backup if these all die (hopefully not).

I have read through the https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/15030-batch-clones-rockwool.html and have tried following the method as close as possible minus the fact that his were taken from healthy mothers in veg.

I soaked the rockwool for a couple hours in 3 gallons of distilled water with a half tsp of superthrive and ph’d to 5.6.

I used the clonex gel that came with my hydrofarm dome/ heater and once all the clones were in the rockwool I gave them six hours in the dark then put the T5 almost right on top of them to keep the temp up since I won’t be using the dome.

The temp as you can see in the picture stays @ 80deg F and the RH @ 50%. I have been running the lights 18/6 with the heating pad running 24/0. I water by quickly submersing only one quarter of the rockwool in the solution and then placing back in the tray.

This being my first attempt ever to take clones and realizing that I have compounded the difficulty by taking my cuttings from flowering plants. I don’t expect many to take root but if I can even get a couple out of the 24 taken to re-veg and later make them mothers I will be happy. I realize this also takes significantly longer to do it this way but it’s WA and we don’t have dispensaries so I will have to make do with what I have available.

If anybody see’s that I’m doing something wrong or has any positive suggestions please let me know. Thanks:bigjoint:

I use peat pellets to clone, so can't say much about the rockwool, but the method sounds, um...sound?LOL If you took 24 clones, you should get quite a few to take root, probably more than half.(maybe even 75+%) As you probably already know, it'll take longer for them to take root, but should root just fine. Cheers man, you'll have a bunch of vegging plants in the near future.

P.S. They look nice and healthy, so should root really well. Most problems come when growers take clones that are starting to show deficiencies, which are common in bloom.

Thanks, it would indeed be nice if I could 75% to kick.

I thought about those peat pellets but it I found alot of info on the rockwool and 'supposedly' its better for my Ebb and Grow/hydroton setup so I figured I would give it a whack.

I wish I could show you the monsters that these came off of but my friend is pretty hesitant to show pics of his grow even though legal and I don't blame him.

A final update:

I ended up losing patience with them and chucked the last three really healthy ones; they were developing great root structures but nothing on top. I have faith that they would have eventually taken off but two months and still no growth on top was too long for me to wait. So about a month ago I kicked off a bunch of seeds with rapid rooters and they have been growing great after my failed attempt(s) at using rockwool for clones and seeds. I will be starting a journal shortly and once started it should be in my sig.
