Changing light source

So I've been growing under a 400W HPS, and am wk 8 of flower. Would it be a basd decision to switch to cfl in a 3x3x3 flat white box. 3 soft white and 3 cool blue. The girl is only 16" tall under HPS, as I've topped and LST, and 12/12 from 1 wk old. But two main colas are 7" buds so far. I don't want to hurt the good growth she's had so far. Any suggestions? finish this one under HPS, or go ahead and switch. My buddy needs his light back soon, so Any opinion or suggestion is open to thought. Thanks.

Hello,

More than likely I think just a little more info is needed to determine what the best course of action is...others may be able to answer also since info is key to helping.

1) 8 weeks is a good amount of time but it's all strain dependent, what strain are you running?
2) How do your trics look clear, cloudy, amber
3) Whats the wattage on the CFLS you are thinking of?

Both of these indicators will give you a good idea...if you are really close to finishing (or finished) then you may want to toss them in the dark for a few days and finish them out that way, no light needed and problem solved.

If you look like you are a couple weeks away I would wait, the weight and quality will suffer if it goes under CFL's at this stage. Maybe others can chime in but that's what I would most likely do.

I was thinking of using 8 13 (might go with 23) watt bulbs. 2 power strips with 4 bulbs each 2 cool and 2 warm per strip. I got a couple computer fans I was going to wire into phone chargers for power,1/2" weather stripping for lid of box (which is going to be on hinges with a handle.) I'm gonna run one heavy duty three way extension cord to box, and split plugs from there. Got too many wires showing as is, and this way will be only one wire to box.

Don't know strain. It was bag seed, i know it's sativa. I figure no more than 4 weeks from harvest, the way it's smelling, and that the calyxes are swelling pretty good.
