No you don't have to be exact with timing. Within 30 min. The sun don't rise and set at the same minute every day. 12/12 after a week was to keep it short as I have limited space. Will, however lower yield a lot. The more you let it veg first, the taller it will get, and the better your yield.

Hey man, I was reading the thread "my plant is leaning like a dope fiend". You said you are growing your plant in soil. and put it into 12/12 after 1 week. 1 week old? lol. cause if thats possible ima go do mine right now. lol. I thought the plant had to be mature enough before going into 12/12. Also, with the timing of the light. it HAS to be exactly 12/12 everynight. not even a min or 2 off? Do I really have to be that anal with the light timing or do I have a few mins of cushion? Hope to hear from you.
