Can you Trim while in flowering??

im flowering my girl right now, shes 31 inches tall, like a bush im excited about how big she is. but i wanna know if i can trim her a little so that the lights hit all of her, i rotate her almost everyday tho, ( turnin her 90degrees) so that all the leaves have some sorta balance in lighting, but i wanna just findout if i can trim down the lower or higher leaves, like the fan leaves, and ive noticed a few people also cut the tips of the leaves, what does this do? thanks fellas

absolutely not. The plant transpires through its leaves. This is the way it cools itself as well as moves water up the stem. If you remove leaves you recuce the ability for the plant to preform these functions. So that is definitely a bad thing to do.

I only remove leaves if they are damn near dead and falling off.Or if there is a bug infestation on the leaf.

Do not even remove leaves that look bad, the plant is sucking all the energy out of them because it needs it, so wait until its done draining the leaf and then pull it.

sometimes its okay...take a look at this...I trimmed almost 50 percent of her leaves off and she is doin better than ever...it exposed her bud sites...some before and after pics

trimming leaves is fine. although you don't want to go too crazy with it. if you've got big fan leaves blocking bud sites, then trim away. it won't hurt the plants granted you don't go crazy with the haircut. another option is to use ties to bend them so the bud locations get more light.

but wud i just trim the fan leaves? and about how much the leaf should i trim , like at an angle or just chop, she hasnt even shown signs of budding. been almost a week so im not sure what to be looking for, but its a bushy plant, ima try to get some pix for my next post, but my camera i been usin was dropped it fucked. and the other one we dont have the charger for. so ya...lol

Just don't go Edward scissor hands on it. I'm newish at the whole *imma grow this marijuana in large quantities for the smokage.* stuff, however I've kept a house plant of it for a while now and trim it nice when it gets to bushy.

when it gets to the point where the bigger leaves are blocking the growth underneath; the leaves that are under the bigger fan leaves, it's a good idea to trim trim trim it up so they get some light and can breath.

well, if you are using a HPS light, it doesnt matter... the light passes through the leaves.... however, I take off some of the fan leaves some times... it sets back harvest time when you prune it... but it allows more airflow. leave the big healthy ones... if you take some of the new growth deep within towards the middle of your bush. it will allow the flowers to grow bigger and focus the plants energy on making the calyx's swell. dont go to town though.

I gradually remove all the fan leaves from the main stem during veg, then there isnt any necessary trimming to do during flowering, works for me.

I usually start at the bottom, after the plant is at least 22-25 days old, with the fan leaves (even sometimes the bottommost branches), and do it slowly like over a couple days. Then I slowly move up the plant from there as I notice the leaves turning yellow and drying up. basically, about the time i would get close to the tops of my plants it would be harvest time (so all the easier to trim)... and if you are using bloom nutes, good lights, and take good care of your plants, the loss of the sun leaves will help them over time time produce better buds.

this thread totally just reminded me to do some trimming -- trim if you feel it's needed, but don't overdo it.

yeah definitely don't overdue it... that could set you back by a couple weeks, or if you go way overboard it could kill your plants

I thought I went overboard on a plant a few weeks ago, removed 30 fan leaves in one trimming, didnt seem to slow it down, the plant was 6 weeks old and now the new growth has really gotten thick, I've been using FF nutes so Im sure that helps

yeah that is a bit more than usual, I stop somewhere between 6 and 15 usually. depending on how big she is, and how fast she is growing.... not to brag at all, but it seems like I may be getting about 2 to 2 1/2 inches of new growth all around on my plants every day.

he he he...the plant I posted earlier in the thread I got 2 grams of bubble hash from...not bad for some fan leaves. lol...took me all of 45 minutes and two hours drying and I smoked a nice couple of fatties.....mmm mmm

I remove the fans leaves on the main stem once the new bud sites have just reached outward beyond them. So they are already growing outwards when the leaves are removed, they then begin to grow up towards the light. However, I dont practice this anymore Im more of a lollypopper these days.

i guess that makes sense, i was always told never to do that, but it sounds like ill probably remove big ass leaves covering bud sites.

I think I should have mentioned...i would normally never clip that many leaves...like ever...but it had to be done to keep the girl alive on this one...but I still got some good hash from it. mmm

so do you guys think it would be ok to trim 2 leaves of the top of my plant. there are two leaves blocking the light to 4 buds. you think the buds will benifit from me trimming these two leaves?
