im not really sure on that one. It looks like the leaves you wanna trim are the fan leaves for the main cola. i would just tie them down underneath the two buds. Im not sure where the main cola gathers most of its light from but i think its those leaves, so im guessing if you cut them the main cola would suffer. I would just tie em.

so do you guys think it would be ok to trim 2 leaves of the top of my plant. there are two leaves blocking the light to 4 buds. you think the buds will benifit from me trimming these two leaves?

take a look at the pic.
yeah bro...that is a DEFINITE NO on trimming those leaves...notice how in my pics all of the bigger fan leaves around the bud site were kept...just the little crappy shit leaves you can cut...leaves in the middle of the plant that dont get any light...trim those..but not your fan leaves...they feed your bud sites.:peace:

In the name of Sensiminia , STOP this fight. This thread is awesome, i learned things from both of you in just one thread and the good thing is that they are all connected to the main issue - TRIMMING...
I looked at many different forums and quarrels about "To Trim" or "Not to Trim". And after testing on my plants i am quite sure controlled trimming is good for the plants and their bud development.

Thank you !

trim the big fan leaves if they are creating problems for bud sites in a confined environment. Outdoors is different.

So what about outdoor trimming during flowering. The Big kush I have is super thick and could use a trim. I think you guys hae the right idea by staying away from the main fan leaves to the cola. In fact, stay away from the top third all together.

PS This is all about learning, just because its not "your way" doesn't mean its the wrong way. Play nice

I see this discussion appear repeatedly and every time there are growers on both sides of the issue. Even pro growers disagree about this.

It always made sense to me that cutting healthy leaves was a mistake. The plant has to heal the cut and it's deprived of resources that it worked to create. But the fact that even experienced growers disagree tells me there can't be a big difference either way.

I have been staring at that cluster fuck of leaves in and around the top third of her. Its getting tangled and even though its green, I think that a little trim can't be bad. Just stay away ffrom thicker stalked leaves nad take off moderate ones.

Pros'

More light more flower
Less leaf for crystals to become attached to.
Less leafy buds
Less trimming at the end
Less flushing at the end.
More yield
more air flow ( we're out side growing, that's not the man concern, light penetration is)
more room for buds to grow
less energy wasted on providing to useless leaves.

I have thinned a bit so far adn not gone crazy. Generally if the plant has absorbed most of teh leaf and its now whitish, I cut it. If its green and small and in the way, I have a good look.

no youre wrong. if u cut the leaves. more water can be absorbed by the bud . instead of having wasted leaves. collectin nute an water for nothng when your bud couldbe gettn it. 2. cut any leaves bigger than 4 - 5 inches.
and also cut any fan leaves hanging over potential bud sites . leaves will cover alot fo the bud growth areas an they need to be trimed. . i make my tops bald i dont kno what the guy above me is talking about but hes wrong
