Can I use a blender with ice water to breakdown trimmings for infused cooking oil?

Thinking ahead for my 1st grow of LSD, I'm gonna make some cannabis cooking oil with that good trim. I don't have a grinder (can easily buy one) but I'm wondering would a blender with ice water work for breaking down the plant matter? Not that it matters, but it's the "Montell Williams" blender not some weak piece of crap. Most of the slow crock-pot methods require water anyways. Also, it seems like the blender wouldn't be difficult to clean afterwards, and if a nosy family member walks in it will look like a smoothie. Is this a decent idea to try? Will the particles be too small for cheesecloth straining?

I wouldn't do it with the ice water. Use a food processor, they work great for this. I bought a cheap one just for this purpose. Orrrr...you could dry ice hash it and get two for 1 ;) it will break down your material, making the need for food processor or blender unnecessary. Then you have hash to make something like coconut hash oil to make candies and stuff with, and the trim you were originally going to use anyway.

Thank you very much Fumble. I do have an old food processor in the attic but I'm gonna look up the dry ice process right now. That one sounds very intriguing.

no problem :) I think you will love the dry ice method. Just be careful if you have allergies...wear long sleeves and maybe a little painters mask. I have to take Benedryl when I make it.
