Can i use a 150 watt hps light for flowering??

Getting a 400 watt tues. With bulb! +bulbs. So that is good for the room i have, and i am ready to start flowering. Allfor 0 dollars, except for the outrageous light bill. Lol. Big shoutout to my hero "hotrod",for showing me love!! Too cool

OP, well, ya did what you had to and you still got taken (there are conversion bulbs ie hps running on mh only ballast... but I am sure you knew that) I would have only settled for a 600... looks like you might have got it as well. considering you first said a 150 then later 250 and then 400... so I am sure you could have held out longer (you can always veg for a couple of days longer, and even take clones etc or prune to make the plant slow growth)>. oh well. Good luck and at least you can get the 6 under the 400 :bigjoint:

600 is not that expensive.. I see a 20 to 40 increase a month in electric. Just an fyi, I ran one plant under a 150 watt hps (brand new w/bulb) and also 64 watt (300 watt equivalent) cfl and yielded about 25 grams off of her... ok it was my first grow ever and she was a bag seed that late termed hermi on me. happy grows!!

a lotta hot air in here. let newbie do what he wants. he'll learn from this grow that you only get out of it what you put into it. you'll still get buds newbie. you just won't get the full potential from the plants you're growing.

Man i can assure you that here in a few months youre gonna kick yourself for getting rid of that 1000. Your 400 will do the trick but 1000 is always better.

thanks to all who gave ADVICE. which was what i wanted. not critics! none of u know me from adam, but some chose to give helping advice, with constructive criticism (aka non assholes), and other just bashed me from the get go, with no advice whatsoever (assholes). i got an offer for an adjustable ballast, up to 100 watts hps. so patience is working so far. i have the girls in my cfl cab, with mylar lined walls and 12 cfls shining brite! today is a good day> >>>> nam, myoho, renge, kyo

i did 6 - 4gallon square pots under 2- 150w HPS's in a small cabinet. the trick with a hps that small is take the footprint you think it has and make the dimensions of your grow room the size of the foot print. my cab was about 3.5' X 2.5' and it was the tits. And to answer your question a 150w HPS and cfl's will support a numerous number of plants it just depends on what size you wanna grow em to. and if your buying cfl's get the 42w's no higher. They have the best output ratio and after that they go down. its the same for HPS's thats why people use 600's instead of 1000's. the heat difference and lumen output is better with the 600
