Getting ready for my first scrogg grow, throwing in 12 girls, 2 level scroog. 1st one 2 ft, 2nd one at 4 ft.

my question is about trimming when they're flowering. Should I or should I not trim the under canopy the scrogg creates once?

6x10 ft I would say, not going to let them het to big, going with 12 to make up for weight since I usually do 3 huge dwc plants

You would get a better yeild doing 4-6 plants properly vegged and trained scrog. Whats the lights over the girls?

Yes, trim under the canopy.. I'm not sure why you want screens 2 feet apart. By the time you have them trained into the first, there's really no reason to veg them up, since all youre going to do is have to trim farther up anyway, so youre just wasting veg time IMO.

I'm using a tube air cooled 1000w HPS and an LED that I built with a PAR of 660 in the red spectrum as a supplement.

I built a drain into my containers where all I have to do is turn the switch and it drains everything to my garden outside. (if that makes sense) I created a lever that closes tight so I can open it and add my fresh water/solutions to it, without moving to the containers

I understand where you're coming from, but keep in mind that plants still grow when they start to flower for at least 3-4 weeks. and what do you mean by "training" them?

I cleared under my screen pretty much getting rid of what I didn't think would make it through...I flipped to 12/12 when my screen was about 75% using her stretch to fill the rest.. I'm at day 20.. after 12/12

I'd trim before switching, give them some recovery time then 12/12, worst case scenario, you get a little bit of extra popcorn to make hash or butter from.

How big is the space you are using? 12 plants scrogged would fit a small warehouse.
Doing rooted clones straight into flower is a good way of getting a decent perpetual ScrOG, with smaller plants you harvest less but a lot more often and can get more harvests per year so the loss makes up in the long run.

how do you change your water in a scrog grow?
With difficulty lol :) have to put a drain valve on the bottom that you can just attach a hosepipe to.

But yeah sounds like you've got your shit down, got any pics?

Good luck!

I know that plants stretch. My point is that if you let them stretch 2-3 feet and dont trim anything, the bottom is going to be popcorn. Scrogging is so effective because it creates such a dense canopy, which means no light penetration past maybe 10-12" depending on setup. So train them under the lower screen for the first few days of stretch and the canopy will be denser but not as tall. Within reason, this will mean more big colas and less little popcorn.

ya I'll get them up once I have the system up and running, just need to adjust a couple more things and get everything just the way I want it so it all goes well. Also have to pick the strain.

I'm deciding to go with only a single level scrogg. I under the reasoning to the train, so definitely be using that method. So how close do I let the tops get to the chicken wire before i switch to flower? Should switch so the stretch pushes through?

let them veg and keep training them under the screen until they fill about 80% of the screen, then turn your lights to 12/12, stop pushing them back under the screen and let the colas grow up

You will want to have the plants trained into the screen before switching. Depending on strain(stretch) and lighting, youll have to decide how dense and tall of a canopy you want, and base your timing on that.

What is the simplest way you can explain training to me? and elaborate on "training into screen". Thanks for all your feedback

As the plant tries to grow vertically through the screen, tuck the branches. Lower shoots will be able to catch up, and just keep tucking to keep everything level until youve filled enough of the screen to flower.
