calcium uptake

i read all the time that ideal ph for hydro is between 5.5-5.9..if that is the case and the plants wont uptake calcium til it hits about 6.2,how can that be?

You're supposed to set the ph at those ranges because as the plant takes up nutrients the ph will rise and since you're supposed to let the ph drift a little bit, it'll eventually get to the right ph to access calcium.

When I used PH perfect stuff from AN I often wondered about this too. The PH is usually pegged at 5.8 but I've never had a calcium issue using it. *shrug*
