Thanks you all, and thats why I wanted to inform you all because I was careless and stupid assuming the best and not the worst by letting someone in my house while not there. I didnt think they would break into the utility room and would be in and out but I underestimated them. Im gonna be fine and this was a lesson learned but I cant grow anymore and that is the worst thing about this to me. I feel I lost a piece of me when they took my shit.
Nah it aint over for you, once everything calms down, you might wanna get another place in somebody you can trust name, not yours bcuz when the background check comes up,these charges will come up,and most of all take extra precaution next time, and take this as a lesson learned.

Most importantly get a landlord that is on board with a grow....you may be renting but technically they can come over with the law anytime they want.

There's more, son. Trust me. I've had to leave more than a little behind in my life. I would be happy just knowing it would never happen again. You sound naive but goodhearted and you'll do fine. See that lawyer. Good people rule overall.

I will take your advice hotrodharley, I already am in search of lawyer specialized in these cases. I know it may of not been wise to to give them that interview but my cooperation is why i am not in jail right now and its a class 4 felony and they have this drug court that guarentees no jail and wiped off your record if you go through their stupid program so Im not worried about the worst case scenario because it was what it was. But I will fight the warrant if it happened the way it did for the cause. I never lied to them at all and he thanked me for being so honest and respectful and that he has never had such a pleasant search. He also coached my interview to prove it was a hobby and I was not selling and talked to me outside for 30 minutes about video games he plays. I just had a really good vibe about him like he respected me and was going to do whatever he could to make this easy or like it never happened.

Can an admin delete my account and everything I have ever posted on here please. Got me paranoid about it now

If You ever wanted to delete info from ur pc. Just take out ur HDD and smash it. And then dump it in two or more rivers. best way :) i would only do this if you have info on someone you murder. but for browsing a fourms i wouldn't get paranoid.

Well first of I wouldn't be posting on RIU days after you were busted.

Second, police are never on your side. All they are doing is buttering you up with lies and kindness to get your word on record to use against you.
"my plant by far was the most impressive plant he has ever seen." Typical police psychology.

You never have a grow op in a rental unless you have a landlord or rental agency that is "off-hands", and not fucking crazy. In our old rental the management company, owner or any maintenance folks never came over unless we called them. Most rentals are not subject to insurance inspections unless it is a slum, or a very high class rental or you have a landlord that has many complaints against them and/or being investigated by the state for whatever ie-past violations.
AVOID ASSHOLES.

As for them illegally entering the utility room, if it's a rental and you have a personal lock you bought on an existing or built structure within the rental, you have little to no chance of winning that.

Find a lawyer that specializes in this type of case and quit talking to the cops. Good Luck.

the police can put on a convincing job that they're fair, will deal with you straight, and so on
it don't work that way, they're only interested in building a good case, which means your ass in a sling if they work it that way
they threaten to get what they want
however, if the OP's case as it is described, it could work out for you
what you do by cooperating is make the police your jury, if you're way down on the enforcement ladder, you can win, kind of
no upfront jail, but if you're down on the lower part of the enforcement list, they're probably not going to prosecute for spite unless you provoke them
bottom line, cooperation doesn't get you much, unless you want to get in on the informer business

Very bad advice.

Unless your landlord is a cool hippie(do any cool hippie landlords even exist?) who would rather go to jail then snitch you out in a situation where he or she gets in any type trouble, I wouldn't want a landlord to know anything. It's just another person who knows what you are doing and has all the power in the world over you.

The key to growing safe in rentals is renting from a management company that has multiple homes, townhomes and apartment rentals who are "hands off" and work for multiple owners, which of whom never step foot on your rental property unless asked. Before I started up again back in th elate 90s I grew in a townhome for 3 years. Not once did I get a visit from the management, maintenance or actual owner without myself asking them to come over for a specific reason.

"Get a landlord that is on board with a grow" That sentence is just so silly. How does one go about finding a "on board" landlord. Do I put it in the memo area of the rental application? Is there a secret handshake?

damn i hate that for you just so you know cops will act all buddy buddy with you if they think it will help get info or help get u to coaperate they just probably wanted a confession and shit your state has some sever penatlys for marajuana violations. i wouldnt be relaxing just yet i bet you will end up doing time it might take them a while to officaly file charges because they have to send each plant to a lab to get tested that can take a few months sometimes. and ive lied to cops plenty of times and never been arrested they cant prove you lieing unless you lieing about ur identy so if a cop says do u have drugs in you car or house please say no lol dont be like yes i have drugs because ur scared of charges.

I really think you are retarded...When I rented this house I called on a half dozen..every possible landlord I talked to I told them there is no sense in me even meeting them to look at the house if they are going to have a problem with me growing my own meds...it is the biggest loose end there could possible be..a landlord can and will come over anytime they want..and if they see a grow or smell one you are fucked 9 out of ten times ...i love not having t hide anything from anyone..so much stress gone.

But the hole is right about one thing..don't buy the cops bullshit"best I ever saw" they are trained to make it appear they are cool...they are not cool..if they were they would not have taken your shit and ruined your week..I would rather spend a couple nights in county then talk to the police and have some asshole pretend to be my friend after he and his boys just ruined my garden.

they all seem nice. dont trust them. they deserve to die. they pretend to be our best friend and trick you into snitching. thats how i got busted years ago. someone got in trouble, cops scared them into snitching. they wore a wire and had a controlled buy. they tried scaring me but i just said you know something really bad could happen to me if i did that. fuck way back then if i did snitch i would probably be beaten to death and thrown off a bridge somewhere. they said i was looking at 4 years and blah blah blah. i said i will see if i can help you out and he gave me a number. i just did it to pretend i was his friend kinda thing. never would i really do that shit. i hate them fuckers. they are scammers, liars, and worse than real drug dealers and thieves. in the end i was sentenced to shit like fines, community service, substance abuse counseling, etc. no jail time. would of went to jail at first if i didnt have bail money tho. dont worry cops probably wont see it. ppl on here are always nagging about privacy shit. dont put nothing too revealing and no one will see it. i almost think ppl are stalking me on here and trying to find my identity. if only they knew lol.

i would also recommend using a proxy ip when you are here.

also dont ever grow at a place unless your cool with your land lord which most of the time isnt the case. tenants always bitching about something. i was a land lord at one time for a few years. got out of it cause of the hassle. i would rent out kinda run down places for dirt cheap, lot of them were welfare scum. they always bitched about the smallest things. they would even call the city to inspect to try and make me do shit but inspection was always passable. one dipshit even called the city for inspection, well the dumbass had an illegal grow and the city inspector seen it and called the cops. at least since it was to do with drugs it wasnt hard to evict that fucker. now dont get me wrong, i wasnt like a shitty land lord. the places were run down but thats why rent was dirt cheap. going thru the eviction process was always such a bitch except the one time. i really got burned in the end though. lot of ppl i didnt give them their security deposit because they trashed the place. so then they go and trash the place even more. put holes in the walls, break doors, etc. try to sue them for damages but they have nothing. go to there work with court orders to garnish their wages and then they quit their job. wasnt worth the small amount of money i made. i think overall i profited about 5 grand. not fucking good at all for that long of a time. good thing i have a regular job. so i pretty much failed at the land lord game.

That "best I ever saw" sounds like the motherfers setting him up as an "expert" or "professional".

For a good proxy for blind IP I suggest Cocoon.

https://getcocoon.com/signup

Free proxy has a tool bar with sign in. Do it and you are assigned a new IP each time. Works too. I read tons of newspapers online. The NY Times allows 20 free articles in a month then they gently turn you away or ask you to subscribe. With Cocoon I can read 20 articles a day if I had the time.

Imma guess you had 5 plants? i wouldn't worry about doing any time though you could get 1-3 years, hell Illinois would be legal already if this wasn't an election year,Chicago has already took the first step. Before the recent infraction law was passed the police was letting people go with oz's.

1-3? nah.... just a small slap on the wrist ...in cook county probation...the further you get away from Chicago the harsher the penalty..those hillbilly judges and D.A.'s down south are some real ball busters and even those clowns will give ya a slap on the wrist. If you are in Cook or Will county pm me for a couple attorneys names...this is still beatable. outside of Cook or Will I can't offer any attorneys names.

Did the land lord or owner give you at least 24 hour head notice that they were going to come in and show the unit?

When Can a Landlord Enter my Apartment?

A landlord has the right of access to an apartment at reasonable times or at any time in case of an emergency. The Chicago Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance states that a landlord’s entry into an apartment between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. is presumed reasonable.

Generally, the landlord must provide the tenant written or oral notice of no less than two days prior to entry. The landlord may enter the apartment without prior notice in the case of an emergency. In addition, the landlord is not required to give prior notice if the landlord unexpectedly requires access to the client’s apartment while engaging in repairs elsewhere in the building. However, if the landlord enters without prior notice, the landlord must give the tenant notice of such entry within two days after the entry.

If not you could have a fighting chance at winning your case. Even though there was something illegal going on and "if" you didnt get any notice your could get off on a technicality. Talk to a lawyer and find out.

A landlord may also have access to show the apartment to prospective tenants, but no sooner than sixty days prior to expiration of the current tenant’s lease.
