busted outdoors!

OK, this is what happened to me in the early fall about 8 years ago...

Ghetto bird was speeding to refuel, spotter glanced out at the right moment and saw my grow-about 40 ladies. They marked the GPS coordinates, refueled then returned and directed the ground support troops in for eradication-sloppy SOBs left one plant behind.

Testimony in court indicated the spotters look for a particular shade of emerald green. He said the flower tops looked "blurry". His testimony was very inexact about everything. His estimate of the number of plants as well as the size of the plot was WAY off base by more than 2X what was actually there.

In my state they are supposed to maintain minimum altitude of 500 feet, almost two football fields, so identification of individual plants not clustered together should be very difficult.
But when the bastards returned in subsequent years they appeared to hover lower than 500 feet.

Lessons learned:

1) Don't place plants close together. I had 40, but 10 close together-maybe more than 2 or 3-is probably risky.

2) Place plants under the canopy of small small trees. They only miss direct overhead sunlight but are much harder to spot from the air.

3) Don't grow on your own property, if possible. I found the goons are more than willing to cheat, break laws, and disregard proper procedure to tie the property owner to the grow, in order to attempt to steal (they call it asset 'forfeiture') the real estate.

"man that sucks..." yeah, without a doubt.

"are you on the east side man?" Ohigho

"were your girls towering huge... like 8ft Christmas trees?" They were tied down with plastic yellow flowers attached as a disguise-the spotter testified they looked different than anything he'd seen before.

"its a scary world....." again, yeah, without a doubt.

It's not paranoia when they really are out to get you...

They were over 11 of mine and a growing patners last year.Hovering not more than 300 feet above.
They were mixed with small trees larger than the plants.
Nothing came of it so I assume they never seen anything.
I thought for sure they would come with the drug unit.
They're harder to see than most people think.
Don't grow in rows or open fields.I guess that's common sense.

most states don't even use helicopters to look for crops, there is much much much much to much land to ever thourally cover with a bird, they would spend millions and find very little, so they reserve them for very high traffic areas where growers are known to be every year like mendicino and humbolt, police run a business, they wont spend there budget on anything that wont yeild them seizures and arrests, because thats how they convince the state they deserve more money. if they spend their whole budget on heli gas and brought back 20 spindly plants they would be in a lot of trouble. most places the cops are about as clueless to growers as the general public, and as long as you look like you have a reason to be there nobody will give you any trouble. most heli's you see flying low are fogging mosquitoes, taking arial photos and other legitimate things but are mistaken by paranoid stoners to be the dea on the hunt.

i have had crops found by stupid geocachers twice, once stolen, once reported to cops who took my fencing, plants and grow bags, but left me with the rootballs. i have never been caught, but you will be hard pressed to catch me doing anything in the woods, im very quiet, don't leave trails, and listen very well, being part of nature when your in it rather than a noisy trespasser of nature will help you avoid most all contact.

hmmm...... when i got caught it was a snitch
possession
paraph
no evidence, just a word, and i was bagged off the street. don't worry about OPS, worry about your best fucking friend, your girlfriend, your parents. These plants will be around 3-6 months, but will your stoner/loser friends? Your girlfriend? Will your parents be guilted to turn you in? My own mom put me in... "for my own good". It's about your network. Why would the gov't hire so many physical agents and put so much money into $$ rewards systems? Helicopters don't nab growers... people nab them. That's how i see it at least. But it's true that you can see them from sattelites, which are a small investment, in introspect.

I'm just glad cultivation in NY is just a misdemeanor until they are harvested.
how sure are you of this becouse i am in ny and starting to become very sketched out by the thought of pigs taking my shit i have alot of shit riding on this years crop so a harvest is something i can not aford to loose but in the end i would rather take a misdemeanor then a felony what number of plants is still under that class

i totally agree with u guys... if the cops are tipped they will bring out the choppers. and if u got a larger spot they are easy to spot from the air..

what your talking about is called spectroanalysis. and yes, it is used by law enforcement helicopters to spot cannabis growing outdoors.
however, thanks to Brown vs. The United States it is unconstitutional (in the US, anyways) for LEO's to use any means of electronic surveillance to gain evidence for a conviction, without a warrant.
This means if your shit is randomly spotted from the air, whether its FLIR or Spectro, they cant just come and arrest you, and expect the charges to stick. They can come and take your shit without warning though, and then seek a warrant if they can prove without a doubt you were the culprit behjind the garden, but only if your dumb enough to leave evidence tying you to the scene of the crime.
All that evidence needs to be is sworn testimony in a court of law from an eyewitness... so remember the golden rule!
loose ships sink ships ;)

even if they do or don't have special equipment on board, etc... myth this myth that... blah blah

the fact of the matter is there are millions of square miles to cover and the man power to do it doesn't exist... they could have teams flying all day every day and they would still miss some... is there a chance you'll get caught -- Yes, there is, as always. How did you miss that? Is it very likely that a small crop will be found -- No, not really. Does it ever happen -- Yes, it does.

So, just be easy, do the best you can to keep them from pinning it on you, and go on with your business.

where i live they absolutely use heli's, but from watching their MO i would say they are mainly looking for indoor grows

but the local drug unit absolutely hires private planes to "keep an eye out" it's common knowledge and with at least half a dozen small airports in the area that's alot of small planes

I know for a fact, ten years ago they would use infra red to detect plants from helo's, the chemical ferts. would show up like the sun in contrast to the natural plants around them. But I also know that night flights were stopped do to the dangers involved. In the subs. they use flur to detect light for indoor grows, but have to get a warrant for this type of work, and its boocoo expensive. I also know for a fact the biggest source for drug busts in general are people telling on people, as I just almost experienced with my neibors. I don't know if they will or won't bust a small plot, but a bored cop is a bored cop. Where I am from we just had the biggest bust in the state, it was actually an accident. Vietnamese Canadians' rented a bunch of houses fore indoor grows, well I guess they were not smokers, because they would burn off the shake and males in the fire places, not realizing that the smoke reeks. A cop happen to smell the smoke and knocked on the door, they got busted. Actually our state is up in arms about the whole thing, we spend millions on pot interdiction just for our biggest bust to be an accident, and on top of that there were no fire arms, or violence involved, go figure. They need to spend more time on fixing the whole crystal meth problem if you ask me. So in short keep your mouth shut (said for me as well) and do your thing. Oh yeah, they interviewed a neibor, she said that she smelled the weed all the time but just didn't care, just figured it was kids smokin, her thought was better smoking than drinking. Seeing how drinking kills more people in a year than weed has ever killed, I agree with her, well and the fact that I smoke as well.:peace:

guess I'm just lucky that I don't have to worry about the po-po using infer-RED from helicopters.

our police department doesn't have a helicopter... plus they're not really worried about marijuana around here. They're looking for the meth-heads out there selling that nasty stuff to kids. The stuff that's killing people.. is the shit that our police department focuses on.

I would hate to live in one of the states like California, where they actually have helicopters that are dedicated to one thing.. and one thing only. And that is 'Scouting'. Scouting for illegal outdoor grows.

But again, this is also the reason that I only grow one plant at a time.. sometimes two plants. I don't want to have more plant than I can eat, or VERY quickly dispose of you know?

Plus I only grow indoors...

But for those of you, who unfortunately do have to worry about the helicopters and the infer-RED shit.. I'll have to try and find the URL, or the disc I saved it on. It's a video I found on google, and its an experiment where these two guys are trying to find a substance or material, that will block the infer-RED. Well, in the video though, it clearly shows that they have found a material that indeed will block infer-RED scopes & guns. The only shitty part about it.. was they wouldn't share what type of material it was that worked.. but I'm sure if I can find that disc or video again.. I'm sure someone on here should be able to tell what kind of material that it could be, just from watching the video.

If I find it.. I'll come back to this thread and post the URL.. or just post the video its self.

peace.

Actually most Police Departments don't have Helo's, they have to lease them, hence the huge cost, and not being able to fly at night due to insurance cost for danger reasons. Actually the police that don't have there own Helo's have to allocate the funds to lease them, and I believe that is public information. Due diligence will keep you from getting busted.:peace:

Do you really think there's a special light that was designed to specifically spot marijuana plants?

COME ON PEOPLE!

P.S. I know who really killed JFK and whether the moon landing was real! Ahahahhahahhah!
