Thanks ill have to check your grow journal out. Do u have a link. Im kind of confused on what your saying about intake holes. I planned on a 6" intake and a 6" exhaust but i guess that wont work huh. Ok if I cut out 2-6" holes for intake Ill use 1 that goes to the lights and other just brings fresh air into room?? Or do both 6" holes connect to same ducting into lighting? Sorry this is a first for me my last grow was under cfl with just a fan blowing and a small hole for heat to escape lol.

Sorry to jump in but wot he is saying is .if u have ur extractor fan at the top with ducting going to ur cool tude .the air from within ur room will be sucked out .and fresh air would be pulled in with no fans and say if u have holes or vents as close to the bottom of ur box that is where the cool fresh air will easily come in .Nice work by the way .

I have two 300 W LEDs & a 450 Watt LED. In my 2 x 4 grow tent. Temperatures are staying around 77 to 79°. I Changed the 450w and put in a 600w Temperatures are now around 85 to 89° My plants are standing up tall and strong. To be completely honest I see they're doing better in the warmer temperatures. This is my setup, I have two 4 inch booster fans at the bottom of my tent & two 8 inch Booster fans at the very top One coolmist humidifier in the middle.I Built a 2 foot table to fit inside the tent So my humidifier it's right underneath I cut a hole in the middle where the fan blows up. Some reason higher I can get my lights to the top of my tent the easier it is to cool it off that's why I built a table to lift the plants up because my lights are all the way at the top of the tent. Hope this helps because it took me a long time to figure all this out

Thanks man. I think im understanding a little more something like this. With a 400 cfm fan. 6" exhaust so I need to cut out 2 6" passive intake hole or 1 12" passive intake right? When making your holes for passive intake how would I keep light from showing on outside of room

getting closer. i would put the fan after the lights tho. as for light leaking out the intake holes i used some duct and bent it around. kinda works. with the filter i put on the intakes it stopped the rest of the little bit of light that leaked out. i dont know if you want to use those booster fans as ive read on the forums here that they dont handle the load to well.

Ok same setup but fan on other side got it. I did some searching and ill get a fan like yours (ebay) $40
And when I cut out the intake holes do I just install ducting to them and put a filter inside ducting and let them rest on floor. No duct fan needed for intake air

I do have 3-4 inch elbows that I could use for intake like the one I have in the very first pic on this thread
That would be a total of 12" intake vs 6" exhaust

i bent the ducting around to stop light leaking out plus serves as a cooling factor for my ballast as it gets on the hot side a little. u could put the filter in the ducting or on the inside of the box, or outside. really whatever works for you and your situation. try different things to see what you like the most. i didnt just put everything in my box and say ok. i played with things to see what worked best, or least what i thought worked best.

20140412_234420.jpg Thinking about doing my intake like this 3-4" elbows had them laying around thought I could put them to use, and put filters on them. That makes it 12" intake with 6" exhaust. What do you guys think?? Am I on the right path

Can I use charcoal microwave filters for my intake looking for a better way then my elbows as ill need all room I can get willI it block light from coming out or will it restrict air coming in? If I have 6" exhaust how much intake do I need? Is it netter to go over on intake 2014-04-16-21-57-08-398016427.jpeg2014-04-16-21-57-08-398016427.jpeg

Just curious whats difference between putting the Iinline fan before or after the cool tubes?

Do you guys keep your ventilation on all the time? Or do you keep it on same schedule as the lights.
Ventilation for lights is typically on for an additional 15 minutes for myself, this allows my fans to completely cool the hoods. Some negative pressure is required for room ventilation to prevent smell leaks, this can be solved with a scrubber running opposite the lights. This may not be an option for a cabinet, so room ventilation may still be needed.

My setup is carbon filter up top connected to 2 400w hps cool tubes then a inline fan and then exit grow room @ 6" tubes and duct. Ill have 3-4" elbows with some sort of filters in them at the floor bringing fresh air in cause exhaust will force it to. is there anything else I should do or am I good with this setup.
