Borrowing electricity from the power company.

I know it is kinda taboo among growers, but fuck it, I'm going to bring it up anyway. Has anyone every taped into the grid and bypassed the meter? I have a friend that say's hes very good at it. Just curious if it's even possible. Not that I'm going to do it, because that would be wrong. But ya know, just curious.

my first grow the landlord had the power on for showings maint. etc, and I forgot to call to setup my own account. Got about three months in before anyone caught on lol. Ended up just working it out and he took that money out the deposit when we moved. I wouldn't have the balls for it. If it's such an issue I'd hit up a govt surplus auction and gobble up a military generator. They generally have super low hours on them, and while not effecient compared to newest tech, they run forever parts are cheap and fairly easy to work on.

If you're in a house, the power companies keep an eye on the power draw adding up to the sub-stations.....so many people have been caught growing exactly from what you are suggesting. It may take a year or two, but eventually they'll figure it out. It's not hard to do, but it's not worth the risks IMHO.

Actually, it's just easier to run an extension cord over to your neighbors deck and steal from them between 1AM -5AM each night.

Not to mention you piss on all the other gardeners doing things the legit way. Spend the 50 k and go solar. Or spend the 13-15 k and get the other thing thats the legit way.

It's possible. A few years ago here in NJ there was a group I think from Korea, or China. Somewhere over there but they were renting out about 6 upscale homes in NJ and converted the homes into grow ops. They ended up bypassing and stealing most of the electric. If I remember correctly they only got caught because they were burning the males in the fireplace and a cop or ex cop lived next door and smelled it burning. But they did bypass the electric.

it's actually really easy. there is a pipe that comes up thru the garage. you splice of the insulation and you put a hole nother 100amp panel and run from that

I know someone that does it for 1500 bucks. says it will work for 3 years. I'm not doing it tho. I'll just pay the bill

good. thing about my house is I own it. and have for 15 years. I know all my neighbors really well. I bet a lot of people are doing that. I know people selling pounds of cookies for 1700, must have a price break on that power bill
