new attempt to save my starbud-

trying both coco and the peat based rapid rooters, 6 in the rapid rooters 7 in the coco, I have a better feeling about the rapid rooters, but we'll see!
I feel better at these clones than the ones before, they definitely look a lot more like the ones people take in their online tutorials, hahaha.

Thinking about topping the starbud and cotton candy in veg, I'd probably wait a minute on the starbud, since I just cut 13 branches on her, but for both of them I want to cut like 2-4 nodes down from the top, should that be okay?

My backup is always rockwool cubes. I hate them, but nothing else is more reliable.

Haha, that's what's been failing me, but always worked in the past!
Well, I guess it's never failed me with seeds, but I just had 8 cuttings and after like two weeks no roots had come out of the stalks yet, I must be doing something wrong, but this next few weeks I'll be super focused on getting my cloning method up.

I'll bet it has to do with our sudden change in outside temperatures, lol mine all did the same thing.

Have you tried aero cloning? I still from time to time just stick a cut into soil/pro-mix for nostalgia but I don't keep mothers so I have no room for error, the cloner is 100% roots every time, sometimes I don't keep them all and select the best, but they always root.

My aerocloner is not so reliable for me. How do you keep yours?

I have a spot under the stairs in the basement so the tub sits on cold concrete and keeps the water cool year-round, I think that's the trick. I had a timer going 1 ON/4 OFF but about a month ago it shut off and didn't come back on, twice over a couple of weeks, that was really the first and only problem I've had with it. Since then I've done 2 batches with it on 24/7 and good to go, maybe even a little faster than on/off cycles. I have an LED about 2ft above it only 60w, no heat. I change the water out every 2 weeks and it's clear as day and cool.

thinking about it, wasn't sure about spending the money, I know I could DIY but I just don't have a lot of time right now, probably will though. Also thinking of ordering some "starbud sister" just to have some kind of seed backup just in case.

When I have to replace mine I'll be just buying one online, there's one called King Cloner on e-Bay and Amazon 36 site that a few guys use in here for well under $100, not worth DIY at that price point.

Any reason it would be better than those already on the market?

No, just one that I've seen around the site here and seems to do the job. I think I spent around $60 CAD when I built mine a couple of years back. If I can buy one for $80-$100 I wouldn't bother, too many other things I can spend time on for saving $20-$30. Nice thing with that one is it's a custom cut box with a lid that fits right on top, there's no place for leaks. I've heard of guys having issues (DIY) and the odd time I had mine leak using those Rubbermaid containers. I ended up just using door insulation on the inside of the top lid to get a solid seal and haven't had any issues since. I'd bought a bunch of extra sprayers but have only replaced one in 2 years and just cleaned the clogged up one which is now in the spare pool again.
This is the one I'm referring to:

Awesome, thanks @GroErr for the link! I'll probably order one in a day or two!
I love that philosophy too, If you spend 4 hours building something that costs you 60 dollars, when you could buy one pre-built for 80 dollars, you're working for less than minimum wage!

I did expect this starbud to be my smallest starbud harvest yet, but I'm a little disappointed to not even hit 50 grams, Not a huge deal, these next two starbud are probably gonna be the two biggest I've had so far, just wish I could spread around more of the Christmas cheer to coworkers and stuff.

That white critical harvest is looking respectable, and it's cool that it's seemingly taking a really really long time to dry, hoping I can get the "ideal" cure on that one to see if I should pop more of those beans some day, far in the future.
I think the drying time might be pretty significantly affected by how I cut it up, starbud I took down branch by branch and hung each one individually, but white critical I took all the big fan leaves off before cutting any bud, then just cut the main stem in two spots (at the base and halfway up) and hung both of those. Definitely harder to do that with LSTed plants.

my cotton candies are PISSED at me for not watering last night, starbud doesn't care.
So I guess that strain is a little more sensitive to that, crazy how they're like 99.99% genetically identical and can behave so differently

That second Blue Ripper pheno surprised me in this first run, same batch of seeds, different pheno and it sucks back everything I throw at it, probably drinks 50% more than the other pheno. Not a bad thing once you've run it and know the plant.

Hope these bounce back, I almost don't wanna take pics because it's embarassingly bad, but starbud still looks great, and that's pretty much gonna be my mainstay, after these chocolopes I might stop growing other strains and just get starbud dialed in before complicating things.
I'll take pics in a minute, including the carnage on the cotton candies (I swear they weren't bad at all yesterday!)

my 13 cuttings are all looking good, no roots yet, but they look healthy, like they're actually working on it!
