BHO to Shatter ?

Also, does the temp of the alcohol at the time of introduction make any difference being that the bho is "cold"? Cold alcohol molecules move slower that warm, obviously. So would it help the reaction to change the alcohol temp? Or is room temp fine?

lol wax.. if u want tasty oil.. from indoor buds.. dont winterize with another solvent.. only winterize in butane.. by droppping the temps.. indoor buds dont produce half as crap then outdoors do.. and the only reason i say this . is because wen winterizing with another solvent.. u are raising the heat to get rid of all of the alc.. now u lose monoterps.. which .. wen using the same oil.. n winterizing half and not doing half.. the non winterized was the one.. EVERYONE WANTED.. the winterized looked cleary a lil nicer.. but still didntt have tthe smeell and taste the non winterized had.. so .. maybeeee someone should look into WHAT THE MAKER WANTS TO END UP WITH.. not wat u "PREFER" twitch.

room temp is fine.. but u need to drop the temps to make the waxs and shit settle to the bottom allowing u to pour off or use a syringe to pour off the best portion.. and then filter the rest seperately ..

im not saying that.. a shatter non winterized is a better product.. im just stating.. the taste and smell of the non winterized shatterrrr was much better... and a single solvent winterization/extraction is the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.. BUT GETTING TEMPS TO -60 is very tough for most people.

I usually introduce my alcohol hot, because it cools down almost immediately when it hits the cold chamber anyway and cold takes forever to dissolve the oil, if there is much of it. I can still get shatter if I let it evaporate or cold boil it off under vacuum.

When I'm doing small amounts for un-winterized lab samples and bragging rights, I use room temperature alcohol and just take the time to swirl it until it dissolves the resin. I then filter it once with lab filters and then again at 0.2 microns. I use the absolute minimum of alcohol and then vacuum boil it off, to make a purdy gem stone clear aromatic shatter.

No, note earlier in the sentence it says un-winterized. It is just a way to get very small amounts of highly aromatic oil. I use it when I extract fresh frozen.

I was wondering if you could help me out with a little problem I've had for 2 out of 3 runs I've completed recently. I use an AI vacuum oven and was consistently producing shatter using a temperature of 115 degrees fahrenheit. I started to experiment with lower temps and the past few runs have turned out to be quite sappy, not even pull and snap. I used a temperature of about 95 degrees for several hours and then switched back to the 115 cause I felt like it was taking too long. Would the change in temperature cause my finished product to not shatter? I noticed in another thread you wrote that 95 degrees is better suited for making wax. I'm going to kick myself in head if I've been ruining my product. Also, if I winterize will it produce a shatter?

For shatter, I use 115F to make the puddle liquid enough to get rid of the solvent as rapidly as possible, and then stop.

For wax, there are a couple of techniques that seen to work. One is to pull a 29.5" vacuum and start at 85F to inflate and deflate a muffin, raising the temperature in 10 degree increments until it waxes.

The other is to stick the oil in a 160F oven and increment up the vacuum until it waxes. Both seem to work.
