Best way to clean pipes

Alcohol is good. Degreaser is good. Alkali is excellent. Combine alkali with degreaser or (bertter) "floor stripper" (butoxyethanol/ethanolamine) which is also the blue "less fumes" oven cleaner. I use a shpritz of yellow and a shpritz of blue.
Some degreasers are alkali-reactive. Not super toxic but a bit ... entertaining.
Where do I get ISO alcohol at 99% purity, which I can't find at CVS? Will Everclear work? (Then I could do shots afterwards)

I use to use mentholated spirits and salt, Soak and shake and would get it spotless but then youd need to keep flushing it with water afterwards other wise youd get a slight taste of the salt.
Last few times Iv used only hot water and its worked just as good.
Leave it under the hot tap for 15mins while the water pores down the bowl hole.
Needs a clean out today if you wanted a video to show you.
same, works a mint

Are these methods just to clean your equipment or to save the sticky resin? I'm interested in how to save the resin. Any other way than scraping?
you're kidding, ya?
If not
you don't want that though, its suuuper high in carcinogens...
all the tars and solid particulates aren't good for ya.
well, i suppose you could vape it..
as horrible as that would undoubtedly taste

I hope she's joking..
LOL I am NOT joking. Look, I just smoke dope, I hadn't smoked in like 15 years, then picked it back up once I got a prescript. for it. So A LOT had changed since the days of smoking buds of unknown origins for recreation. It was a serious question. I thought the use of acetone in @cannabineer's post was for cleaning only, and what's wrong with smoking the resin? We used to scrape it off of our pipes. Didn't know it was a bad thing. Sorry guys.

Nope I would recover with acetone and clean what's left with alcohol/alkali; that was not clear, sorry

Fwiw I have done my fair share of resin recovery. It isn't as nice as fresh, but it is better than nothing. Jmo

Oh, i wasn't judging at all.. Didn't mean to come off that way
i'm just have a (ir)rational cancer fear...
my whole profession is based on that...
I've lost a couple people in my life, and my beloved dog has cancer.
That's all i was saying, i'm no better than anyone, i think 99% of us have smoked resin
ok, who am i kidding, probably 100 fuckin percent of us have.
Another thing is , i just (ass)umed you were a grower and had nugs everywhere
If you are near santa cruz i'll share some of mine
friends don't let friends.. smoke resin

Freshly cleaned my ballbat style pipe yesterday, baked in the oven at 225 °F for 45 mins, then ran a fat pipe cleaner through it, everything ran out like tar, but very clean now

None taken. no worries. why is resin cancerous? same carcinogen as say, eating the char on BBQ? (sounds like it would be obvious but smoking resin every now and then is bad?)

is Rick Simpson oil bad then? I thought hash oil and resin were two dif. things. I eat rick simpson oil in my edibles

I don't know of any studies that show resin to be cancer-promoting. Typically a specific agent (like nitrosamines in food or benzene/formaldehyde in cigarettes.
It does not taste as good as fresh and isn't as potent. But I see no especial harm in using it.

i love ya man, and i wish that logic was the truth, but anytime ANYTHING is burned, the end result is carcinogen, doesn't matter if it's from food (bbq is VERY high in carcinogens, especially fatty foods)
so smoking resin is essentially concentrated afterproducts of a combustion/burning process, which will undoubtedly create carncinogens, hydrocarbon (believe it or not), etc.
smoking is NOT healthy.
anything and everthing that is burned will create carnicongens, no matter what.
now before you guys start busting my ballz, i SMOKE EVERYDAY
i do not vape (i prefer the smoke high)
but of course it's much worse than flowers, it's tar and carbon..
wiiiiith a lil cannabinoids
I've done it too, i'm no better than anyone else.
but factually speaking smoking resin is significantly worse for your respiratory system, not to mention higher in carcinogens.

I have a four gas analyzer, i need it for emission repairs and diagnostics...
I've had a bongrip, blew it out, and on the next breathe measure the carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon levels and they were high enough to almost fail a car's smog test.
sad but true, smoking is bad for you, doesn't matter what you smoke.
if it's "smoke" it's carcinogenic
i wish it weren't true, but it is.

if the oil is produced without heat or flame it'll be "clean"
and eating is different too, carcinogens, solid particulates and such stay in your lungs for a long time, and that's the biggest drawback, simply the contact of it in your body is bad, especially for long ass times

Do you have a link to any of the science behind that?
It is my impression that not all combustion creates carcinogens. Car exhaust (catalyzed) is not carcinogenic. It is emphatically a combustion product.
So, unless you can find a credible (peer-reviewed or summarizing properly referenced studies) link confirming your broad statement, I will keep my current opinion.
