Hello everyone,
Summer has made my growroom hot!
I have a 5x10x7 flower chamber in which I run two 1000w HPS in aircooled hoods with an 8" 750cfm vortex and a Y split. I exhaust the flower chamber with an additional 8" 750cfm vortex. The air cooling the lights is dumped outside the house but the chambers exhaust just goes through a carbon scrubber that is a few feet away from the chamber. Right now the flower chamber has a passive intake on the bottom opposite the exhaust hole. The intake for the aircooled lights is just in the basement hung near each other at approx the same distance for balance in the Y split.
My ambient temps in the basement are around 83 degrees. The basement is approximately 90% insulated and is half sunk with a concrete floor and ledges.
There is another area in the basement, a small crawl space underneath a room, that is divided from the rest of the basement by insulated wall. The ambient temps in that room are around 78 degrees.
Lately my grow room has been getting too hot. Normally averaging 86-87 but sometimes peaking at 90 and I know that the hot california summer months have yet to show their worst. So what can I do about it?
I was thinking of making the aircooled light intakes begin in the crawl space, or maybe making the chamber's intake an active one with a small fan drawing air from the crawlspace. Or maybe both! I would really not like to have to resort to AC since I am already pretty much maxed out on drawing power.
So could anybody please chime in if they think drawing air from the crawlspace will be sufficient or if I will just have to break down and buy an AC?
