I won't have to worry about males (I hope...) since I order female seeds! :)

Ahh yeah I forgot to mention everything would be perfect if you were using fem seeds :) That should work out perfect for you then man, I am truly jealous. What I wouldn't give to plant 20 seeds and know Im getting 20 females haha!!

Not 100% though.

I spent bout double makin sure all my beans were "feminized".

And you saw what happened there kb. Son of a....

No, I suppose 1 out of a dozen isn't bad, but dang.....

Sinsemilla would have been much betta.

Just word to the wise from learning the hard way. Still make sure to keep an eyeball our for those nutz!

Do autoflowers have the same wattage per plant requirements as a regular(non-auto) strain?

What's a good number of females to keep under a 150w hps(when trying to maximize yield)?

Hey no prob. bro.....jus was trying to get an def. answer soon because my babies jus got put into jiffy pellets yest. eve. I guess I have a couple of days before any sprout, so I now I have time to go buy my seed starting soil...which will be the pro-mix<<herad great things about it too! hope my one of these local shops have it:sad:
should I add perlite to the pro-mix too?
Oh, last ques. when I am preparing my final soil, (FF Ocean) how much dolimite lime should I add? I have a 50lb bag. I will need to fill 16-20 3 gal bags...wonder how many bags of soil that will be??:wall:
Thanks KB...

Hey man so sorry I missed ya, totally didnt mean to blow you off or anything. I am not familiar with the FF brand as it is too rich for my blood. I have heard GREAT things though and would love to try it, but I have to pay more for a bag in shipping than the bag costs haha.

That being said, start your plants in as mild a soil as you can. If the FF soil you have is nute free then it would be perfect. I add a cupof blood meal per 5gal of soil for a little extra nitrogen but its not necessary.

MG will work too, but not optimal a it forms into hard compacted soil after a while restricting water absorption. Seed starter mix is ok too but out of all the options you listed above I would personally go with promix. Add a lil perlite if you can and maybe a splash of blood meal if its easily available. That promix stays nice and spongey for MONTHS, its very good stuff.

Sorry again for the late reply, let me know how things are lookin!

Hey kolorblind, what's the best soil to "start" Autos in???? MG seed starter, MG spanghum peat moss, Fox Farm Happy Frog, FoxFarm Light Warrior or Pro mix? Forgot to mention, I will be usig Fox Farm Ocean Forest, after transplant for remainder of grow...

I am currently germin 30 beans,[3/15/10] (auto ak, LR2, white dwarf fem, auto ak x auto bb) and when tap root shows Im gonna put em' in jiffy pellts via a germation station with heat mat...
So once they sprout, (maybe in 24-48hrs) I will be putting them in 18oz party cups, so i need to know a.s.a.p. which soil is best.....THAnKS!!

Will start a journal wid pics of set-up, nutes, ect once they sprout....
FoxFarm Light Warrior or Pro mix is prob best.but any low nute or non will work fine

Hey sam
I dont have any experience personally with DWC, and none at all with DWC and autos but I imagine a lot of the same principles apply. There is no right or wrong time to add nutes if done in small enough amounts. You just need to remember that if you nute burn a plant, at best it sets you back a few days, or it could even kill the plant, especially using hydroponics.

I would start with 1/16 the recommended amount as soon as the seedling surfaces if you really want to go early. If you want to play it a little more safe, go 1/8 when you see the first true leaves, up to 1/4 after showing second to third set and half after showing sex. From here you can take it to full strength if you want, but keep in mind that most nutes are not made for MJ and will burn the plants easily. Best to build a tolerance and stay at 50 to 75% of the recommended dose.

Peace

Hey KB, where do you purchase your seeds from? I ordered mine last Wednesday from dope-seeds.com as I heard great things about the service and how quick it got to people. JIM really responds quick to an e-mail. Hopefully tomorrow I will get mine as I haven't yet.

Hey man, I can tell ya that Jim really is a good guy. Just do yourself a favor & DO NOT bug them everyday with an email. It is going to take every bit of 10-14 business days for the beans to come. I actually totally jacked my 1st purchase. Was using gift cards (therefore I had like x4 diff. account numbers). Anyway, I was kinda rushin & accidentally put the wrong zip on em (sweet huh).

So, after bout 2 months (I emailed to check in bout once every 2-3 weeks), nothing showed up & he sent me out some freebies. Done a few others since then all good, but ya gotta wait 2 weeks. Especially depending how far west you are.

I didn't realize this but after speaking w/ a few folks in UK, we here in the US are notorious for being whiners & gettin all bent out of shape cause our shit doesn't show up in 4 days.
And if ya bitch & get all beligerant with them, your order will just get "lost". (Not like they can get reported or anything).

It's a Brit thang dude. I have a good friend that moved there & she confirmed that they have very little patience, especially if we get an attitude & start cussin. We are known to be high maintenance clients.

That is one awesome thing i beieve attitude learned. "Give them a freakin tracking # when the order is placed & links to the mail carriers websites so we don't have to hear from the bloody yanks"

For what it's worth, thats my experience. Frankly, I kissed their asses.

Different breed dude, they take a long time to do everything.

Don't even try Serious. I placed order, homeboy nailed my card that day. Sent an email 2 weeks later advising that 1 of my strains was out of stock. Again, I didn't get pissy, just thanked them for takin so long & made another choice on strain. Beans finally got here 3-4 weeks from the time they hit my card. & I am totally near an east coast hub.

Jim is a very cool, straight up cat though. Have patience & faith homey, the beans will come. Kinda one of those "a watched pot never boils" type thing. I try to forget about them, and then its a pleasent surprise when they show up. Yeah right, alright, I try to forget about them.

Ahh, nothin worse than waitin for beans. Good luck, they will be there soon.

I e-mailed him after he sent me a message about my shipment saying it was mailed. I just replied with a nice thank you. I e-mailed him today but only was about if they send it through mail or shipper like UPS. And if they need a signature. Wasn't complaining at all! He is very speedy with his e-mails! Nice service. I'll be very patient!

kb, i believe i saw you confirm a few pages back for someone else, but just wanna be show.

You said that it was a tendency of autos for the leaves to turn some funky ciolors in late bloom, yeah?

All the main colas' larger fan leaves are all kinda shades of yellow. Is that kosher?

You can prob. see what i mean from last round of pics, but lemme know if ya want me to throw up some close ups of what i'm talkin bout.

thanks dude

Oh yeah, totally normal. Just your plant showing signs that its close to that time. The buds will draw extra energy from the leaves when they think winter is coming, or in the case of Autos, when they are about to die. As far as the plant knows, it is fattening up the buds and pumping out resin to keep animals from eating its seed filled buds. Seeds or not, thats just what happens, which is the main reason people tell you to harvest when the plant says its time, not based on a fixed time line. Wouldn't it suck to harvest before all the swelling and higher resin production started??

Most common color is yellow, followed by red/orange and even purple. This is just based on my experiences, but Im pretty sure it holds tru for almost any strain. My Diesel Ryders had a decent amount of purple in the fan leaves as they started to die off. If a fan leaf will come off with a GENTLE tug, then remove it. That way the plant will not have to work to keep that leaf alive any longer. But if they are still holding on to the stalk firmly, dont remove them till harvest time.

Oh and in regards as to where I buy my seeds (asked in the last page or so), I actually have never purchased any :) Every strain I have was gifted to me by a dear friend and personal mentor. I believe he originally ordered them from a site that was linked to OG and no longer exists. I know he currently uses attitude, but has only placed a couple orders. I have heard good things about them, as well as dope-seeds.

amazing thread!! i gotta question regarding plant density... i got 10 easyryders, 7 afghan kush ryders, n a dinafem fruit auto on their way from attitude... soil grow, 2 gallon bags, 600w hps (cooled)- but i m growin under a staircase:) the way its setup i have a max of a 35"x28" area, 6 foot high, the "room" is 7 foot long but ya kno, its got stairs for a ceiling so i can only use 35" of the tall side for pots... would it be a recipe for disaster to rock 18 autos in this space??

Hey bro, first off those white dwarfs are sexy as hell.

Second, those are Autofem, yeah? That come in a capsule & what not?

I actually ordered a bunch but got lost in mail (all my fault). Anyway, I looked into them a good bit & it really seems that the Spainards are givin the Dutch a run for their money.

Right now I have some Pyramid beans going.

(Got the pyramid auto strain as a freebie w/ my other autos, and the freebie has been the strongest & largest from the jump.)

Got some reg. photo beans from Pyramid as well, and they sound pretty tasty & again are outperforming the other beans that were started at the same time from top name breeders. And something else I noticed, is that it seems most of the Spanish breeders really make an effort to get sell fem'd beans as the default.

Was totally bummed bout effin up my Autofem order. I had some auto chem dawg (would have LOVED to see how that worked out), and some Auto Fuel I think it was. I believe it had some type of diesel in 'em.

Anyway, just wanna confirm that those beauties were indeed Autofems in the capsules. If so, did the capsules work out OK? Germ rate good, etc?

I've got some lowlife ak's & white rooskies going right now, maybe a week or 2 older than yours (sprouted on 1-16).

Love to hear your harvest report.

Stay up & keep them sexy bizls happy!

Not at all man. Only problem is if you are not using fem seeds you will have to start about 40 plants to begin with. I have found that you can start them in 16oz party cups, and they will usually show sex right about time to transplant. but 18 plants should be doable under that 600w with your floor plan. They wont get 1 square foot per plant, but they wont need it. Also, have you grown this many plants before? Its amazing how much work it is watering 18-40 plants every few days, as well as trimming, drying, etc. Just be prepared if you havent gone this big, it will consume a LOT of time!

just started growing AF lowryder#2 buthave a space problem can i use small pots for these small plants

Of course, they do great in small pots. I have yielded 14-20g dry from both 6" pots from walmart, and 2L soda bottles cut at the label. If you can manage 3L soda bottles or 1gal grow bags, those would both be PERFECT! If you are SUPER desperate (like using a PC case or similar), you can use a 3L soda bottle on its side, and cut a large square hole in the side while leaving th cap on. I have seen people grow 2 plants in such a container scrog style and get a decent yield. What is your cab height from the floor to the bottom of the bulb?
