Don't know if anybody is interested or not but I have a Autoflower grow group here at RIU. and we have tons of great pics with different strains to view. Good advise and a friendly atmosphere.
All are invited to check us out and maybe help or be helped. First times and pros welcome. The only thing I ask is to try to keep the plants your growing Auto's. Thanks and hope to see some new faces.
Where is this group? I was looking for a place like that to post my question, but couldn't find one here.

They look great! I wouldn't say fully ripe just yet. You can't judge by the hairs, if you are able to see the trichomes (30x mag is enough) you need to know if they are clear, cloudy or amber.
Does that make sense? Don't want to waste the efforts of an entire grow by not chopping at the right time!

I'm only on my second grow but, from what I've read, the hairs should be curled up more ... these look too white and straight out still.

say I wanted to follow up on a question I asked a couple pages back. I started 3 auto ak's in small pots, just trying to get a few small plants to make a bunch of seeds. Even though I had normal seeds, I got all females. The plants are about 3 weeks from sprout, and are starting to show a good number of hairs. If I planted a seed now and it turned out to be a male, is there any chance I could still pollinate these 3-wk-old girls and harvest mature seeds before they die? I feel like I'm working with a very short time frame, and I may just end up pollinating my females and ending up with a whole bunch of immature seeds.... Any thoughts or suggestions for me? thanks much!

Alright guys, its been 8 days since I pulled the male from my girls. Here are some close up pics of what I think but really hope aren't beans.

It's the small sacs w/ the hairs stickin out right under the bud. Take a peak & lemme know what ya'll think.

KB & Nimbin, feel free to chime on in.

Thanks a bunch everyone

I'm gonna say yes. the location and the red hairs are indicative of some degree of pollination. I may be wrong, as it's early to say with certainty, but that looks to be the case. Is that so bad though? Gettin a bunch of free auto seeds? I wish I'd had male, I was tryna make seeds and ended up with all fems!

i would go for it u said they were 3 weeks old and the seedbanks said they will start budding at 21days , that leaves u without about 6-7 weeks roughly to harvest ,and your male might have some sacs around the 4 mark maybe , theres no harm in trying

if u cut down the females light hours and go 24/7 on the other seeds will they catch up lol ?

that's a good question, somebody else actually suggested the opposite. I'm not sure what effect the light cycle would have on reproductive cycle for auto, if that makes sense. It would be way more subtle than with normal plants, but it might do something. Thanks for the input.

Changing the light cycle with autos does nothing but cost you more or less electricity bills... They are called autos because they autoflower regardless of the light cycle ,18/4 ,20/4,12/12....The light cycle plays no difference apart from personal taste:bigjoint::bigjoint: its only the LIFE cycle that matters e.g after 21 days theyl start showing sex??? temp fluctuation is prob the best way to stress autos into two sexes,, i had it with my last grow towards the end,, the grow room was perfect temp but everytime i opened the door< bearing in mind very small grow enviroment> the cold air that would enter would see a massive temp drop of up to 12 degrees which caused little sacs,, hope this helps???

Hey all. I have a question about autoflowers and seed production. I got 10 regular auto ak 47 seeds from Attitude, and planted three of them in small pots hoping to get a male and produce some seeds. I now have three tiny female plants that just started showing :wall:.
I don't think I'll have time to germinate and plant a male and get it to produce pollen in time to produce ripe seeds from any of my fems at this point. Thus I am wondering, what is the best way to STRESS an autoflower to cause it to turn HERMIE?? Since it's not dependent on light cycle, there's no way to use the old trick of turning on the lights for an hour each night. Would exposing it to extreme heat likely cause hermies? I've heard there's a few chemical compounds you can apply, but it seems like there must be a simpler way! Any ideas or experience? Thanks for reading!
Stressing one plant of pollen and using the pollen you should be just fine, just dont use that plant for seeds also. You will have some mutant seeds somewhere around 10% from what i've read.
If you stress it into a hermie your pollen will probably be useless to use to get seeds, as it will probably get you hermie seeds. I definitely do not recommend that! I almost bet you could get a male to produce pollen before they are done flowering because males flower (and sometimes grow) MUCH faster. Plant a couple more seeds and keep em in 12/12 and the male will show first, I garauntee.
This info does not seem correct at all, sorry it might just be me, but I would not find this useful. If you used the same plant to get seeds then yes this would be the case, but it sounds like your saying that the pollen would make hermie seeds on a diffrent plant, you always have a small % of mutant seeds when making auto seeds no matter how you make them. I do agree males show faster, but under 12/12? Where did you find that on autos? Not saying thats wrong, it seems you find some info on these things I havn't read yet. And hey again if i'm totally wrong, Sorry bro.

Yeah, I was confused by that hermie/mutant comment as well. I'm not planning on hermie-ing one plant and then pollinating the same plant. I'm looking for a way to make one of my females produce pollen, and then using that pollen to fertilize a DIFFERENT female plant. I think that those seeds should be fine, and even have a high female/male ratio, no? I think this weekend I'm gonna see if I can use an old silver dollar and a 9v battery to make some colloidal silver, that might be my best bet at this point. I have two nice looking females and one slightly more stunted one, so I'll try herming that one and see what happens I guess. It's not worth pollenating these buds at this point, since it's a crap shoot as to whether the seeds will finish up in like 4-5 weeks (week 3/10 now, it'll be probably 4 wks until I could harvest pollen off a male that's not even planted yet, that leaves like 3-4 wks for the seeds to mature, sounds doubtful). Thanks for the responses. Any other ideas, I'd love to hear em.

hey showhard2handle sorry for the late reply. it sure looks like you have some degree of pollination goin on but not enough to worry about. continue on with your grow. looks like your gunna have some good bud and a heap of seed for next batch, hope this gets to you befor you cut her down.

What up all,

This is my first time growing. I am growing a ak-47 X low ryder 2 and an ahgan kush both autos. My grow box is only 10 inches deep. If the ak gets too bushy, can I snip some of the lower branches? Or should I just use lst? Any help would be great.

I am about 3 weeks in. I just fed them 2 nights ago with fox farm grow big, half potency. They have doubled in size already. cant wait to use flower nutes. But in small amounts every other watering.

thanks

yeah, 4 weeks is pushing it, they say a month is needed to rippen seeds, but then again it takes 10 weeks for the buds to be at peak, who says it cant go for an extra week so your seeds will finish, i've never found myself in that predick but.. it might be worth your while checking out to see how for a plant will go before completly dying. I bet at least a week, i'm sure someone will be able to help you. you might have to sacrifice 1 plant for seeds, not both. You should get a healthy amount of seeds off 1 bro. So you'll use 1 plant for pollen, 1 plant to make your seeds, and the last for your pleasures. You'll do good, I got faith in ya. Good luck. Not sure about the female ratio, but if you get your collodial silver generator working right just order some fems and you'll never have to worry about a pesky male again, those will be around 90%-95% fems if you go that route, with that same chance of some mutants, mutants i've seen tend to grow slower, so there easier to pick out.
