OK peeps I just found out I have to actually buy tickets to this thing...? Jesus, is nothing free in this state? lol

So no 3 day passes? Why does everyone talk about having a tent? Do you need a tent? I thought you could just walk around smoking...

So what's fun about it other that you can smoke outside while listening to reggae bands you've never heard of?

Yeah I found out about the tickets when I found this thread. Fuckin' Aye, owell I need a weekend out of this city anyways.

Just had a thought, would it be a smart idea for RIU members to wear like a 'Hello my name is [insert sn]'?

lol man finally this thread has started, i was waiting! i have been the last four years and LOVE it! except last year it was mad humid, with no wind. You can take any type of tents that you want, and there is a tent section that is back farther away from the stage. near the tents is a field of open seating, where you can lay out with your new, amazingly cheap piece. Get there early if you want a good tent spot.

when it comes to a tent and all that, yeah i don't know about all that as this is a growing community and that would scare me away from talking in public.
I would suggest that maybe you fly a certain flag to advertise your location, i.e. a red pirate flag.

This is the first time the event is happening on friday so i'm pretty excited and will be there all three days, PM if you want to talk about setting up colors.

Just make a sticky label of some sort and put it on your shit.

Mailing label. Meeting identification label. Pin a fucking note to your shirt like a kindergartner. Whatever.

"High!

My name is Johnnyorganic

at AreEyeYou."

But why would one want to bring and set up a tent anyway? I'm just saying, do you NEED it or something? Can you not smoke without it?

So other than super cheap glass (which is mostly what I keep hearing is the best part of this fest) what else is cool about it?

I'm just trying to find out why people would pay $45 just to get into this thing for 3 days. Then there's the beer, food, etc...next thing you know it's ACL all over again and you blew hundreds of dollars. Back home we have the Smokeout every year on the fourth of July right on the mall lawn between the capitol bldg and Washington monument. There's a ton of BIG name bands like you'd see at ACL, there's a chili cookoff, and everyone can smoke weed right in the open in front of cops just like Marley fest only the whole shabang is completely free, the only thing you have to buy is food and drink and souvenirs if you want it. Everything is free, and they've had it every year for like the last 30 years.

you don't need a tent, but is cool to have the shade and just have your own little smoking den. It is just recent that they are charging for tickets, two years ago you just had to bring 5 canned food items and you were in. You are paying for the experience of being in the middle of downtown austin, smoking ganja in the wide open air. there are glass blowers, glass stands, shirts, people walking around with brownies, or blunts for sale. It is not something you would want to miss if you enjoy MJ. Also with the name tags, there will be hundreds of people wondering around, it will be near to impossible to find someone!

Ill be there, does anyone know any campgrounds close? We went to windy point last year. We want to find a place where we can camp for 3-4 days without being bothered.

I kinda like the "Hello my name is RIU" Idea. After smoking a couple joints with your new found friend, maybe then you would divolge your screen name. Im not walking around with hello my name is dirtfree....anyone could look that up.

There are tons of campgrounds around here but they all suck so take your pick, shit I'd just go with whatever's straight closest to the venue.

The only place that I know of that might be decent would be McKinney Falls State Park. Just take I-35 to William Cannon Dr. E., go until it dead ends, make a left, and it'll be on your left shortly.

im going im bringing like 4 people, we're from houston. we, including me have never been their, i saw the video and it seemed kind of like a family event maybe i thought it was more of a party event

You know with the right setup and some hustla skillz you could probably sell rooted clones there. APD couldn't catch a cold if they tried. I bet people would pay $25.00 a rooted clone. lol
