I'd run 4 of the long air stones in each of those puppies. I've done somme experimenting and the amount of bubbles do make a difference. I've done 6 DWC's systems of all sizes and the biggest tip is to ditch the walmart pumps and get one of the biggest pisten pumps you can. You really can't have too many bubbles. I know they are noisier but put out so much more bubbles. The other trick is the place your pumps wisely. Put them somewhere where they'll pickup fresh cool air so it will keep your res temps down.

I have 12 site 4 gal containers with a 4'' round air stone in each, what size of air pump should i run? at the moment i have a GH dual diaph air pump now for the sites but i dont think it is enough and a 55 gal res with a 8" air stone in it on its on air pump. basically its a water farm I refitted to be a DWC bubbleponiics

i've been told to say fuck the airstones and just poke 1/8" holes in the air hose itself. The reasons why were this: it is easier to clean (shouldn't clog AS bad IF at all). and the 2nd was so that the hose will be able to move freely thru the water getting to more roots. should i use the air stones i have or should i just use a 1/8" drill bit to poke holes in my tubing? MYSETUP: 2to4x 5gal buckets

I wouldnt put holes in the airhose. I would use the ceramic disks and put as many as I could get in the bucket/pot. more oxygen the better the roots
try the ceramic airstones there are several posts on here recommending them.

Again, if just oxygenation you are probably ok but if you want to use bubbles for early feeding you need bubble action under each netpot that's loaded with a seed. If 12" stones won't fit crossways, you could go to 8 or 10" and use 3 or 4 of them. Might need a more robust pump too.
