Man that's crazy. Cause all you hear is t5's are crap, leds are the best things ever plasma the new thing yada yada yada. I use a 4' 4 bulb t5 for my small veg tent and it works fine. I have never thought of flowering with t5s. Obviously I would need more than my 4 bulb 4'er. What bulbs do you use? Do you use 2700k bulbs or 6400? Or both?

My setup has 18 bulbs which is 972 watts I use ,,,

GE 4100K
Plantmax 6500K
ATI True Actinic (for UV)
ATI Coral Plus (for Deep Blue)

Awesome man. Thanks. I don't know too many other growers. To get advice from one that obviously knows what he's doing... priceless. Thanks again.

Hps will give a little more yield but T5 HO with ATI bulbs give you 2x-3x better Quality. Hands down way better smoke. I am slowly getting rid of my HPS/CMH and gonna go pure T5 after I do the CTF light test T5 vs HPS. My 648 watt T5 HO with ATI bulbs cost me $265 so 2 of them in a 6x6 tent would rock it.

example is I have grown C99 and Ghost under the diff lights and the 2 smoke a bit diff. HPS is not near as strong or as flavorful. The ghost from the t5 is insane. I would love to get some tested to compare.

@RM3 hey when the ctf is done can you get it tested so we can post the results to finially show all the diff from a lab?

I've had a reality check with t5s that's for sure. Definitely going to apply some side lighting with at least t5's but would like to throw in some ATI bulbs as well. Going to keep my 1000watt hps, I just bought a mag ballast and bulb, so I'm going to use it. But maybe some day I'll try all t5s too? Never know

I got a 3900 lumen output 2700 k cfl bulb its freakin huge , and two two foot tube bulbs at 1025 lumen output 6500k spec totaling 5950 lumens in a two and a half foot tall 2 foot and a few inches (i dont own a ruler ) long and about a foot and a third wide box lined with mylar and aluminium on theffloor and roof of the box is this enogh lite?

You need to read earlier messages in this post from RM3. He explains, and shows, what to look at with the trichomes but also says its more than just looking at one thing. I know what you mean by the THC degrading and having an effect on the type of high. He shows the difference between amber and brown trichomes in one of his pics. If I were to go by one determinig factor on when to harvest, however, it would be the trichomes, not the hairs. IMO
