Are cobs worth it?

This is directed at NOONE but I've come to realize (it seems) that those of us who are using cobs and have had results with them, love them and praise them.
Those who do NOT own COBs and have NOT used them from reasons of price or lack of DIY knowledge, bash them and talk mad shit. There's no 2 ways about it or any other way around it. That is exactly how it goes in this subforum, hands down.

When you talk like you have better shit then everyone else you should be showing off your garden to hold weight. Problem is you've made comments about people not being able to afford cob fixtures that being why their not using cobs. Or no DIY skills. Those are foolish statements. If you don't know why some of us haven't switched ill show you why. But don't say rude no true things. Your bud not better then mine or the next gardener trying to master their craft.

Show us your bud shots please. Would love to see what your working with.
I'm talking about the world, Cochese. Not growing weed in a closet. LEDs won. Look at your street lights, car lights, stereo, TV, computer, phone.

And guess what has an anode and a cathode and gets cheaper and brighter every year since it was invented? Actually...nevermind. That doesn't work at all.

HPS is great, I use it. But it's done.

I didn't know you were talking about televisions. I thought the op was talking about fixtures for growing cannabis. And i thought thats what you were talking about. Fuck i thought everyone was talking about that in here.

Another good value LED apart from small high wattage COBS are the (getting better) LED based fluorescent tube replacements.

Like the Luceco LED Fluorescent Replacement Tube - 4 FT - 24 Watt - 2400 Lumens, available at EarthLED and a few other places
https://www.earthled.com/products/luceco-led-fluorescent-replacement-tube-4-ft-24-watt-2400-lumens-ballast-bypass-direct-wire?variant=2403570948
I'm writing this under the light of one, very nice color (CRI 80) and cheap with free shipping.
They require NO POWER SUPPLY, you simply bypass your fluorescent fixtures ballast and they run on "120-277 VAC (UL RATED TO 250VAC ONLY)"

The one I'm under was faulty and I took it apart and made a desk lamp out of it, inside its an aluminum strip (0.35" x 46") with ~0.3W SMD LEDs every 13mm, with a tiny cheap power supply that uses a dodgy EL cap that can fail (I replaced it)

I took the strip out of the plastic tube and glued it directly to a 1/8" x 2" piece of 6061 and it barely gets warm. In their sealed tube they should be pretty tough but EarthLED sent a couple orders not in mailing tubes and when UPS bent them they DIE (they resent 2x times with no return!)

The price at volumes is as follows from EarthLED:
Luceco 48 " 2400 Lm 24 W
1 to 24 $10.99ea Lm/$=218 W/$= 2.18
25 to 99 $10.50ea Lm/$=229 W/$= 2.29
100+ $9.99ea Lm/$=240 W/$= 2.40

with slightly better PS components these could be the best value in LEDS.
You know, I kind of agree. It's going to cheap consumer tech like this that makes growing affordable, even with all the compromises an all-in-one brings. I've looked a little bit for 2ft bulbs for cheap, nothing jumps out yet, but that strips are my next light for greens.

- went 2 da strip club: illuminated booby tassels: uh huh, LEDs

- abducted by aliens? What do you think they are using for anal probes? Three little letters...led

Hes not right. HPS lamps for growing are not getting phased out. You know this. Its the biggest market in the gardening game.

Eh well I get where your coming from but I did a lil math on page 7 that says cobs are just better in nearly all aspects but price. But they really do pay for themselves in the electric bill... and you dont needa change bulbs out every grow or every other grow.

Oh I'm not doubting cobs. There awesome. Im just saying your bud is not better then mine because of your light source. Your bud is better then mine because your a better gardener. Lets see your nugs and plants friend. I did read your post on page 7, now just waiting on your pics of all your better bud in every aspect.

HPS lighting is the biggest market in cannabis gardening.

DE HPS yup, SE HPS nope

I think HPS will fall out of the market, not because of how good well they grow, but because the price of cannabis is going down. for $20 we got a bag of unknown mexi, now I can get half a gram of wax or two grams of flower that has x5's the amount of THC.

in the bay area, I'm shocked buy what they sell for $7 PG: the product by a person(s) who did an excellent job. the margins get thinner, you will need to grow smarter. that and affects your whole grow. 4 can fans, down to 2, and less A/C. $/watt. the process is accelerating the grade of product is getting better the demand is higher.

this is kinda off topic: but the concentrate market is killing the jars, they not using LARF anymore, $3500lb in to shatter/wax and sold in .5's at $35

I feel like the whole reason people cant find good flower is cause its being processed in bulk. everyday I read about some explosion, the concentrates went from the small cigar displays to over half the shop in the last few years. DAB heads are killing my flowers, it makes me sad.

Oh no doubt, well I only have a lil humble grow as I'm limited by plant count but heres a quick picture of a lil nug. Not the best weed out there but I'm happy with it.

I'm using more power with COBs the SK set up I was using: so for me, its not as much as my HPS, but more then my full LED solution.
bulbs is a big saving, buying more then a few at a time. but in three years. A: the cobs will loose par, or far more likely there will be better lights to buy.

replacing the newest and greatest cobs will cost 4x's as much as a DE HPS, so they might be pretty close in the long run.

they synergistic benefits of cobs, is where you will pick up savings.
