I agree too. Its quite a big money making gimmick.
There are some real snakeoil salesmen out there.
Have to know when to supplement.
For sure... I'm still reeling from the soil burning up my last Cookies Kush seedling... Soil is banned from my home now lol :P

And the reason is, Coco coir is just easier to work with, it drains without question, its consistent and soil is the total opposite, even FFOF or FFHF stuff.

I'd rather start with ZERO and build or reduce my feeds as required, slow release and supplemented bag mediums are just crappy imho... Make your own mix, it pays off in the end for 100% sure.
