my plants love RO, i use there nutes an there soil. theres a few diff kinds of soil they make so maybe those of you that dont like it dident buy the correct one for your goals. theres a mix that has a much higher N content to start with then there other one that you can fill in around with when you uppot before flower. to the guy that said its nearly as bad as MG, if thats the case im switching to MG asap cuz MG is hella cheap. (kidding)
yeah one moment he hates roots and now he's switching from FF to RO soil haha. im not sure whats up with him, but MG is awful!! haha

I think Roots Organic is cheap. I dislike there soil about as much as MG. But I will say they have 2 products I like very much, that is Trinity and Extreme Serene. Other than those two I don't care for it.
There soil is best for flowering not veging.
But you're switching to RO eh?

I've never used Root's nutes. But as a new grower i tried a few different soils. My last try was with FF Happy Frog. It seemed to work well. Not many nutes in it at all but a great soil. I found that it can be acidic if it's sits. I talked to my local hydro guy who recommended Root's Organic soil. Of course he was just trying to sell me on something but i must say. Root's Organic is the GOOD SHIT!!!! it keeps a stable ph and is nice, rich soil. and i don't think it runs as hot as FF Ocean forest.
Here's an experiment you can do.
Look at threads of people with Ph problems. You will see that they're using FF soil. I'm not an advanced grower by any means. And i'm not shitting on FF. But since i switched to RO i'm sticking with it until i find something better. But like i said . It just seems more stable to me. I don't hear many people having problems with Roots. However I am using FF liquid nutes. the Big Bloom and Grow Big are terrific. But the Tiger Bloom is so acidic I wan't to throw it out the fucking window.

anyone every used the ROOTS SOIL WITH COCOFIBER??? , i was thinking of doing a coco grow, and while researching i came across 707 FORMULA and it seemed too be good quality soil, my plan was to cut the 707 with some coco bricks so make it 60% 707, and 40% Coco brick and run the H & G coco line,BUT....!!! i saw that roots made a coco mix and im a little curious on how it performs. im still a newb grower so any info will be helpful either about ROOTS COCOFIBER or ROOTS 707 AND COCO MIX!!

i was planning on running H&G coco nute line

THANX EVERYONE!!!

I think roots organic soil blows unless you amend it. Seems to me it is coco based and contains little nutrients. I prefer fox farm soils with a little added guano and worm castings. Then I can use plain water for at least a month. Just be ready to start feeding at the first sight of deficiency.
i've always had great results with roots and i only fertilize 2-4 times for the whole grow, just transplant when they need it, maybe you got a bad batch?
they do seem to have some issues with consistency.
if you want more nutes try the roots 707
or not

This girl was raised from a clone on RO Buddha Bloom, an occasional dose of AN Bud Candy, and Alaska fish emulsion just after transplanting. RO soil too. I also use Neptunes Hydrolised fish/seaweed blend. It works for me.

Hate to burs everyones bubble but FOx Farm is not an organic company. The make one kind of nutrient that is certafied organic, but everything else including soil is chemmy. Rock the pro mix(75%pete moss w vermiculite and perlite) with wormcastings. Best organic mix yet
Really? here's the description of FF Ocean Forest:

The ultimate potting soil—everything your plants need, in one bag. Ocean Forest® is a powerhouse blend of premium earthworm castings, bat guano, and Pacific Northwest sea-going fish and crab meal. Composted forest humus, sandy loam, and sphagnum peat moss give Ocean Forest® its light, aerated texture. Start with Ocean Forest® and watch your plants come alive!

What part of the soil is chemical?

I have used and it is without a doubt my favorite organic soil. I was a hydro guy, but your cant beat the simplicity and taste of the organic method. The soil out of the bag was enough for me to achieve 3-4 oz plants consistantly. On my next go i will be adding pure blackstrap mollases and the two P & K liquid guano fertilizers from roots. IMO flat out the best shit. You cant go wrong, its plug and play with all the micro and macro nutrients you could ever need. not to mention superior drainage and water retention! like i said i can pull 3-4 oz consecutivley from a 36'' bush. I liek to pride myself on my methods and training of the plant to accrue for this weight. but i know the nutrients have a whole helluva lot to do with it! I hope this helps!!

Peace,

anybody use roots in hydro systems with coco medium?
yea i have one jillybean in a hydro drip bucket and coco, it does well the roots are huge they pretty much take up the 5 gallon bucket. my friends always try to give me shit about it, then i pull the pot out and show them the roots, they dont argue as much now. people think you cant do organic hydro, but you can. the coco allows for micro organisms to thrive. im thinking about making the jillybean a dwc.

although i run most of my plants in soil and will probably keep doing it that way. hydros cool, but i hate adjusting ph every 2 days, and all the maintenance of the hydro stuff, on top of the plant your already growing. plus with soil you don't have to ph anything, your soil does it for you.

I use RO soil & I have fungus gnats too. Only a few adults, but I put a potato slice on top of the soil, couple of hours later I had 100's maybe 1000's of the tiniest little bugs running all over the potato. I am going to drench with GoGnats (Cedar oil/Laurel Sulphate). I only noticed them a week or so after introducing molasses. I thought they were fruit flies. I put some vinegar and soap (fungus gnats are AKA vinegar gnats) in a dish and saw 3 adults sunk to the bottom (soap reduces surface tension and they sink to the bottom). My other room doesn't appear to have an issue (yet). I was using molasses every other watering, but I think I am only going to use it twice next grow.
