In fact, we're expecting just that - 3lb - from 800w of LED above. But our space is just a little more than 4x4 (two 3x3 stations), and we grow in coco run-to-waste.
that is such a gorgeous clean room!3x3 stations with 400w LED panels side-by-side with 600w HPS. Still growing, but I'm fairly confident the LED panels will equal the HPS bulbs. Each station averages 20oz up to 24oz per grow.

80 would fit. The point of a sog grow is many single cola plants. It would be a pain to water but would fit.A good grower and definitely get tha yield. My last harvest, I got 14.5 ounce in a 2X4 and that was my second grow. So with a few grows under my belt I can do 2.5-3 lbs my self. But 40-80 plants in a 4X4. Do you think you can fit 40-80 mature plants in a 4X4? Any grower with even a little bit of experience can tell you that many plants in 4X4 is beyond reasonable. Even 20 plants would be pushing it.
Nothing wrong with t5. Though they are better now than they used to be. I used to hit 10-12 zips in a 2x4 with a 4ft 8 bulb light. 2 plant scrog.Well it wasnt a good fit for me personally. I didn't even finish the run to he honest, I was very new at the time and I think my fixture fell on them.. and it was so long ago people still used t5 fixtures to flower so it was a bad time. My expected yield was nowhere near what your friend got. I think I was shooting for around a lb from my 440 watt fixture. Remember this was t5 days.. i ended up finishing the run with the plants that didn't get smashed an i think it was a few quart jars. Also worth noting these were autoflowers, and autoflowers back then are not what they are now.. so ya. Not a bragging run, just something that happened.
What do you estimate the cost will be?I will be going to a 4x4 with close to 700 watts of cob and single diode LEDs.
Not sure. A person can build cobs or QBs for around a buck a watt. What do you estimate the cost will be?
For the LED.
Will you have it for the auto comp? Not sure. A person can build cobs or QBs for around a buck a watt.
For myself it will be different. It won't cost me anything.
There are 0.5-1gal fabric pots or plastic bags with a diameter of half ft (6-8inch).I think its bs. 40 to 80 plants in a 4xr tent naw. 30 to 40 max.
We've seen almost 2 grams per watt under LED, so it's feasible to hit 3+ lbs from less than 800w. Difficult, I'm sure, but feasible. Again, the space is the limiting factor, not the type of light.Personally, I think it can be done. With the right strain and conditions, I've no doubt LEDs are powerful enough. A few things I've learned since playing around with them is they are a lot stronger than they appear to the eye, and I have had to turn mine down to prevent bleaching that I didn't think possible (below). Also, they are real Cal-Mag hogs - possibly due to less transpiration uptake of less mobile nutrients, also possibly due to the better quality light.
By "better quality", I mean more complete spectrum, with more blue and green than HPS (DE also has a more complete spectrum than SE HPS). My main criticism of LED is that it lacks UVB and is short of UVA, so while the quality is still good, it's not quite there yet compared to, say, MH, which puts out a good amount of UV to stimulate cannabonoid production. HPS also puts out a bit of UV, despite the UV-cutting compound (iron tint) built into the glass.
I reckon with a good aeroponic sog or scrog set-up and about 800w of LED strips or panels, 3lb is not out of the question.

Dry and trimmed weight?it was 2.5lb the first 4x4, and 2.8 the 2nd 4x4. will see if the trend can continue
That sucks!I feel way behind here. I am hoping for 2 units (but probably will only get 1 - 1.5) out of my 5x5 with around 800-900 watts of home made strips. This grow I have been battling mites for the first time. I hate these bugs!!!! These really have hurt my plants and I'm sure my yield. Stupidly, I put a little lime tree from Home Depot in my tent and it contaminated the area and all the plants.
Probably not. I will be testing a new led that will be run in the 2x4 cab. Will you have it for the auto comp?
I got a 4x4 for a veg tent and plan on using it in the comp and I need to upgrade my lighting.
Not sure what I'm going to do yet.
Will the next comp be in 2019?
600w produced 2.8lb I'm going to assume that's wet weight600W
Fuck those little assholes. How are you fighting them?I feel way behind here. I am hoping for 2 units (but probably will only get 1 - 1.5) out of my 5x5 with around 800-900 watts of home made strips. What would make you lean toward a 4x4? With that much power, you might as well give it more space!Probably not. I will be testing a new led that will be run in the 2x4 cab.
The 4x4 or 5x5, I haven't decided, will likely be over 700 watts as I will be adding some t5 back in for uv.
