not knowing how many plants is in someone else's sog is reason to find a 2.8lb/4x4 grow implausible?

hmmm

Lol!! This answer says it all. I also have a chicken that lays golden eggs and a chiwawa sized elephant in my backyard.:wall:. ROFL
I did a 81 plant sog in a 4x4... that's the exactly number of square 1 gallon pots that fit in a 4x4..

I think it YOUR post that "says it all"

You don't think thats reasonable for a 4x4 SOG?
A good grower and definitely get tha yield. My last harvest, I got 14.5 ounce in a 2X4 and that was my second grow. So with a few grows under my belt I can do 2.5-3 lbs my self. But 40-80 plants in a 4X4. Do you think you can fit 40-80 mature plants in a 4X4? Any grower with even a little bit of experience can tell you that many plants in 4X4 is beyond reasonable. Even 20 plants would be pushing it.

thanks, i recall you used to post X g/w regarding different types of grows, do you have new info on the upper limit of sog LED grows? like have you seen people post 3 or 3.5 or 4 lb+ even? would be crazy
No idea what the upper limit might be. But you can fit four 6 inch rockwool cubes in one square foot. That's 64 plants in a 4x4. A plant in a solo cup can yield 20g easily, thats nearly three pounds right there.

experience like this is what im looking for! :)

how was the yield and did you run into trouble dealing with so many plants?
Well it wasnt a good fit for me personally. I didn't even finish the run to he honest, I was very new at the time and I think my fixture fell on them.. and it was so long ago people still used t5 fixtures to flower so it was a bad time. My expected yield was nowhere near what your friend got. I think I was shooting for around a lb from my 440 watt fixture. Remember this was t5 days.. i ended up finishing the run with the plants that didn't get smashed an i think it was a few quart jars. Also worth noting these were autoflowers, and autoflowers back then are not what they are now.. so ya. Not a bragging run, just something that happened.

Guys, how long do you veg 2 plants in 4x4 tent to SCROG them properly (full screen)? Is 6 weeks enough from seed? 5 from clone?

I pulled 16oz from half my 4x2 under 200W of LEDs with three 10-11 week strains. The following grow I pulled 15oz from the same set-up. Here's the first grow with about three weeks to go. They just kept flowering and filling out. While they were under 200W, the lower parts of the plants had overlapping light from the other 200W frame on the right, so perhaps not strictly a "200W grow".

I do 3-3+ with a DE1000
I call BS with LED. You got to weight it after it drys not before.
This is what over 3 looks like, I’d like to see the 4x4 tent . View attachment 4181768
This is more a space issue than a lighting issue. There's nothing magical about a DE Gavita. It's all about the amount of usable light hitting the plants, and it's simply a fact that modern white-light LEDs (quality COBs/boards/strips - we're not talking about blurples here) are more efficient than any HPS; more light at the same power or equal light at less power. Pulling 3+ lbs from a 4x4 does sound like a tall order, especially in a standard horizontal grow, but anything a DE Gavita can do, 750 watts of LED can do - but either one seems excessive for a 4x4.

Haha! Well I think I know what 3lb looks like dried and weighed. Here's 3.5lb (yes, dried and weighed) out of a 4x4 with 1200w of vertical HPS.

The reason I don't call BS on LED is because, well, you know, I've grown with both. That 4'x4' box below is 6'6" tall for reference. This isn't even all the plants that came out of it - only the ones I still have photos of.

I thought I was doing well with 2.2lb dry as a PB. I can see 2.5 and close to 3lb be possible but 4lb I cant imagine. Not without some sort of stadium SOG set up. I would have to see a vid with wet weight and dry weight been weighed to believe it I think.

Looks good, but I’ve yet to see 3-3+ pounds come from 4x4 & LEDs.
Personally, I think it can be done. With the right strain and conditions, I've no doubt LEDs are powerful enough. A few things I've learned since playing around with them is they are a lot stronger than they appear to the eye, and I have had to turn mine down to prevent bleaching that I didn't think possible (below). Also, they are real Cal-Mag hogs - possibly due to less transpiration uptake of less mobile nutrients, also possibly due to the better quality light.

By "better quality", I mean more complete spectrum, with more blue and green than HPS (DE also has a more complete spectrum than SE HPS). My main criticism of LED is that it lacks UVB and is short of UVA, so while the quality is still good, it's not quite there yet compared to, say, MH, which puts out a good amount of UV to stimulate cannabonoid production. HPS also puts out a bit of UV, despite the UV-cutting compound (iron tint) built into the glass.

I reckon with a good aeroponic sog or scrog set-up and about 800w of LED strips or panels, 3lb is not out of the question.
